The aromas are musty and hoppy. the flavor is light caramel and some grass. This is kinda inbetween an IIPA and an american strong if you ask me. There is more hoppiness to this beer than a strong ale should have but I like that being a hophead. Cheers Crosling (1856), Loveland, Colorado, USA

However, fairly nice flavor balance, with rich malt and hop flavors abound. Smooth, creamy body, with well hidden alcohol. drfabulous (1285), Columbia, Missouri, USA

Tasted very thick and syrupy, with a strong alcohol finish. Lots of sweet dark fruit and hops. Papsoe (15180), Frederiksberg, Denmark

Fat aroma of caramel and hops. Full-bodied with lots of caramel, overripe fruit and roasted malt - some spiciness too. Hoppy finish yet not overly bitter. We’re really talking Barley Wine borderlands here. 030707 jrob21 (1283), Atlanta, Georgia, USA

Also getting some piney/grassy hop smell as well. Flavor is thick and sweet with a bit of a hop finish. Flavor not incredibly complex and when the alcohol peaks through it is more apparent than it could be with a bigger hop profile. SudsMcDuff (1841), was CapeTown,SA-now Houston, Texas, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 13/20 | Feb 22, 2006 From a bottle into a snifter. Beer pours a hazy, medium-brown color with an average-sized, frothy, off-white, mostly and quickly diminishing head. The aroma is sweetly malty with light notes of cookie, caramel and toasted grain; Moderately hoppy with a sharp note of resin/pine; Lightly yeasty with a note of bread dough; Light miscellaneous notes of vanilla and toffee and/or sweet corn. Not fiercely engaging, but still mostly fetching. The flavor is moderately sweet, heavily bitter with an extra-long, heavy, lingering and slightly unpleasant sharp, bitter finish and a little bit of corn in the retros. The body is medium-to-full, the texture is almost creamy, the carbonation is soft and there’s a moderately alcoholic warmth in the finish.
