sinkr (212), Lusby, Maryland, USA Nov 6, 2009 Bottle->honker: pours a white creamy, lasting head that exhibits good lacing atop a cloudy dark orange body. Aroma of root beer, sweet taste, medium body, astringent finish. Ok but not great. tarheels86 (703), Washington DC, USA Nov 6, 2009 355 mL.Shared with SpencerDB.
Pours a hazy reddish amber with a thin, tan head that has little retention and no lacing. Aroma is sugary, malty, strawberry like a doppelbock. There is some strange wet dog/barn house/mustiness in there too. Taste is very weak: mostly seltzer water. Disappointing. SpencerDB (12), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Nov 6, 2009 The best way I can recreate my experience with this beer is simply disappointment. The aroma is promising with hints of maple/molasses but the taste is just lacking. The beer lacks body, is watery, and has few hops. Dry finish. Not bad, but probably not going to buy another Trev (850), Lakeville, Minnesota, USA Oct 18, 2009 pours amber brown with a medium lasting cap.
light roast malt aroma, some sweet nuttiness
flavour has caramel and maple syrup tones, more of the faint roasty tones and a very light bitterness in the finish as well. Body is a bit light though. RR (26), Kentucky, USA Oct 10, 2009 Bottle. Muddled Brown pour, little head. Generic Brown ale. Malty aroma, very thin. Aftertaste was not good. Pedestrian at best stretchfest (45), St. Louis, Missouri, USA Sep 24, 2009 Bottle. Pours hazelnut brown with small, tan, disappearing head. Nutty, malty nose. Caramel and malt flavors. Watery. tennessejed420 (69), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Sep 19, 2009 12 oz. bottle. Malty aroma with caramel. Pours red brown with off white head. Taste is slightly caramel sweet. Pretty watery. As far as brown ales go, not a favorite. Elwood (654), Leesburg, Virginia, USA Sep 18, 2009 Serving: 12 oz. bottle.
Appearance: Hazy deep brown with a foamy, tan head. The head is pretty small and is gone quickly. No lacing left behind.
Aroma: Light nose. Slightly fruity with notes of nuts and light brown sugar.
Taste: Leaning heavy on the brown sugar side with some caramel and a slight earthiness to it. No hop prescience and definitely on the watery side.
Palate: Medium carbonation with a medium, slightly watery mouthfeel. Short finish.
Overall: A simple brown that could benefit from greater body and depth. Not terrible but certainly not worth seeking out.
