3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
This was a purchase of six bottles from Corks and Kegs in Richmond. The brown ale poured a light brown yet clear when you hold the glass to a light. The head was smallish and disappeared. It is sweetish ale with mostly malt flavors and no hops. Nice finish but lacks body.

3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Dan’s Bachelor Party Extended Weekend Rating #3 of 90. Bottle at Shallo’s in Greenwood. Pours dirty brown, no head. Smell is mostly brown malts, toffee and prune. Flavors follow, goes down light and easy. Light palate, but enjoyable.

2.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle: as a brown ale, this is getting "out of the style." Pours dark brown with a rich arouma of chocolate and molasses, which I love. The taste falls short of the promising nose, though: molasses, pruney malts with a bitter, dry finish.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle from Sun Devil. Pours like date juice with a trim off-white head. Smells and tastes predominantly of raspberry tea, brown sugar, hops, and faint cream. Fair, if not strange.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Aroma reminds me of English ESB’s, malty, nutty flavor with sweet caramel and chocolate undertones. Appearance is dark brown and nearly opaque. Flavor is mostly chocolate and caramel malts, little to no hop presence, perhaps some almonds. Palate is bubbly and creamy. Pretty mundane, but not bad.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Pours brown, as the name implies, with a medium, of-white head. Aroma is malty and slightly nutty. Flavor is malty, and very sweet. Creamy mouthfeel. Not too bad, but better brown ales are out there.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Pours a reddish-amber with almost no head, just a thin ring of foam. Aroma is malty and very sweet. Tastes pretty sweet and also very thin. A little watery. Kind of boring.
Bottom line: Not a fan. Wouldn’t buy again.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Location: 12 oz bottle from Total Wine - Richmond, 7/21/09
Aroma: Caramel, roasted malt, nutty aroma
Appearance: Brown color, thin tan/light brown head
Flavor: Mostly malty, light hops, caramel malts really come out as it warms
Palate: Light to medium in body, OK mouthfeel
As a lefty I like the brewery name, I haven’t necessarily been blown away by most of the beers I’ve tried from them, but they have been solid. This one is a decent example of the brown style, but it just doesn’t blow you away.
