COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
That time of year when the day seems to fade away. Drifting further into the darkness with each passing day. Yes, we’re letting loose, from the noose (spiced beers), that’s kept us hanging about. FADE TO BLACK – our non-traditional, kick-you-in-the-ass ale that mirrors the available sunlight from October thru March. The name will stay the same (as well as the packaging) each year, but the style won’t.

12 ounce. Rich. Dark and roasty. Nicely done overall with bit of bitterness.

Bottle:   Yep, thats black, frothy beige head, fairly nice lacing.   Roasted/burnt malt nose, coffee, lactose sweetness.   Sweet roasty malted flavors on the tongue, minor coffee bean, also lactose.   Mild hop bitterness as well.   Not as sweet as others, likely because of the hops.   Otherwise faint astringency.   Moderate body and mouthfeel.   Not as silky as I would have liked, likely because it could stand to be a bit maltier.   As its its decent, middle of the road American made Foreign Stout.

From an old scrap of paper rating note: black/brown pour with small tan head. Aroma of tobacco, chocolate, cereal and nuts. Nice sticky chocolate taste balanced with coffee bitter. Roasty. Had a cereal vibe.

Pours thick black with off white head, aroma has notes of toffee, molasses, dark fruit, some anise, smoke and bitter roast notes. Taste is nice coffee, caramel, chocolate and roast going into smoke, molasses and some dark fruit finishing fairly bitter.

Draft. Nearly black. Pepper is subtle in the arpma but more evident in the taste, but subtle and balanced enough to be very enjoyable. Body is a bit too light. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A great brew, drank the heck out of it fresh, and have continued to enjoy it with some age. Its a great dry fresh beer with a malty, toasted taste. If you run across this on tap or by chance in a store, grab it up!

A pretty solid beer with some sweet darker fruits and a rich chocolate characteristic. It’s got some good things going for it but the back end is a bit harsh and astringent. Has held up remarkably well for a beer that is closing in on two years old.

Sampled on draft at Zeno’s in State College PA this beer poured a dark black color with a medium sized foamy brown head that lingered and left great lacing. The aroma was cola, wood, tobacco and a touch of smoke. The flavor was sweetish and toasty with notes of wood, smoke, tobacco, cola, vanilla, cherry and a touch of anise. The finish was long and malty with lingering wood, tobacco and cherry. Fairly full bodied. Interesting.
