3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Dark, dark brown colored pour. Small ring of off-white bubbles. No lacing. Caramel and vanilla aroma. Taste is a bitter chocolate with hints of vanilla. Not really that spicy, but you can tell there are peppers in there after awhile in the throat. Decent, but not a wow beer. A little on the thin bodied side of things.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Dark brown (much darker than their regular porter) with a steady tan head. Nose is cocoa, roasted malts, pepper-actually very nice! Flavor is pretty nice as well- you taste the peppers a bit in the finish but its very nicely integrated overall. Medium to heavy body with a light pepper, bittersweet chocolate, and mild chalky finish. A nice surprise.

3/VI/2012 - 33cl bottle from Geers (Oostakker) @ home (2012-595)
Clear dark brown fading to black beer, small beige head, unstable, dissipates, non adhesive. Aroma: lots of mocha, coffee, some caramel, liquorish, earthy, tobacco. MF: good carbon, medium body. Taste: sour start, mocha, chillies, chocolate, some vinegar. Aftertaste: very hot chillies, little bitter, coffee. Bit too peppery for me...

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Sampled on draft this beer poured a black color with a medium sized foamy brown head. The aroma was mildly malty with a touch of hot peppers. The flavor was all hot pepper drowning out anything else that might have been desired. The finish was long with hot pepper lingering. Thick and creamy body. Too one dimensional.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Dranken Geers, Oostakker, Gent, Belgium 26th May 2012 had this sat outside Frank (camper) at Knaus camping, Nuremburg, Germany Monday 4th June 2012 Fade to Black, Volume 3 Pepper Porter. Wonderful warmth from the off but it is never too much. Pours black canít see through it with a tan head I think, supping this whilst snaffling some Bavarian black bread that is wonderfully sour. Smooth and even a little creamy with that background warmth and a light toasty roastiness. Lovely. A7 A4 T8 P4 Ov15 3.8

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours black as the name suggests with a small brown head that dissipates quickly to a ring of bubbles around the glass. Nose is milk chocolate, roasted coffee, wood and pepper. Taste is sweet throughout with minimal bitter on the finish. Mouthfeel is soft at first with some creaminess but then leaves a little burn on the throat at the end. Long aftertaste and a heavy body.
