COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
That time of year when the light fades away. Brewed for the darkness, Fade to Black speaks in volumes. Welcome to Volume 4, the Beer pours pitch black with an off white head. Citrus (bergamot) and roast dominates the nose. Slight sweet malt gets pushed back by initial citrusy hops followed by powerful Italian Amaro, gentian and hop bitterness. Finishing with a pleasant duality of dry roasted malts and hop bitterness.

UPDATED: NOV 21, 2012 Good God - been waiting 2 yrs for this.Black opaque pour with half inch head,lacing,tan/kaki head. Dark chocolate, coffee, roast, some breadiness with slight carmel sweetness, not much of any hop presence, but there is a slight fruit that seems to just be yeast esters. Some dark berry as it warms. Taste is big on dark chocolate a mouthfull of roast, coffee tones, some earthy/woody maybe, possibly mildly herbal hops. Finish is roasty bitter not too dry ,fairly smooth, almost foamy, mildly slick. Ashy roast sharp bitter in the end.Slightly disapointed overall but still very decent

Svart vätska med brun krona. Doft av knäck och choklad. Smaken är kraftfull med bra beska. Är normalt ingen fan av riktigt mörk öl, men denna va bra.

Comes out of the tap an opaque coffee brown with a thin tan head. Aroma had notes of roast malt and quality coffee plus a snip of hops. Flavor has rich mocha and hop notes, like the best stout mixed with the best IPA, plus caramel, nutty, earthy and licorice tones and a fruity hint. Not too sweet, not too bitter. Firm texture is quite smooth and quite fizzy, leaving a hoppy mocha finish. Don’t fade away, drink one!

Poured from bottle into a tulip. Dark doesn’t begin to describe it, as the light on my phone couldn’t pierce the blackness. Off-white foamy head that dissipated a little sooner than I would have expected based on other reviews. Smells of chocolate, coffee, plum and licorice. Burnt coffee and chocolate predominate the initial taste, but turns to hoppy bitterness that lingers. A bit of carbonation, but it really coats the tongue. I’m not really sure what this beer is trying to be. I don’t dislike it, but it feels a little muddled.

Draught@RNH. Dark brown color, small brownish head. Woody, toasted aroma. Medium-bodied. Woody hoppyness, some bitterness, coffee roasted flavors, some licorce. Quite plain Black IPA, I like this less than the ratings here.

Pour on tap, dark brownish black pour with off white head, aroma brought notes of orange, peel, chocolate covered fruit with some hints of dark cocoa, coffee, roasted malt notes, hints of grassy spice as well. Taste is a mix of dark fruit, chocolate, hints of orange peel, fruity notes with a hint of grass in there, finishing bitter, dry.
