3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 keanex (785) - Atco, New Jersey, USA - NOV 12, 2012No bottling information.
Appearance: The body is as black as night and the thin head is a dark tan with minimal retention, some lacing is left on the glass.
Aroma: On the pour I smelled a lot of cocoa and roasted malts, similar to their milk stout actually, as the beer settles the piney and earthy notes from hops come in, this is balanced well though and the profile works. I’m not in love, but it’s solid.
Taste: The intro and even mid-taste would have you believe you’re drinking a porter that’s balanced well with cocoa and roasted malts, but near finish the earthy, woody, hops come in with just enough presence to be noticed, but not enough to overpower. This is the best of the style I’ve had.
Palate: Oily medium body with light carbonation.
Overall: This is the best of the style I’ve tried, this is balanced wonderfully between an IPA and a porter unlike other ones that go too far one way or the other. This is a wonderful harmonious marriage between the styles. Thanks Left Hand!

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Torrefacto (60) - - MAY 9, 2013

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 DSG (3926) - Tel Aviv, ISRAEL - APR 28, 2013
Bottle sample at a tasting at Dancing Camel. Thanks zvikar. Dark brown to black with a beige head. Aroma of weird fruitiness and a bit of roastiness. Roast flavor, a bit sweet, with a bitter finish with some hops. Medium-bodied. Decent, but doesn’t feel like a black IPA - not enough hops.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Lore (413) - Budapest, HUNGARY - APR 21, 2013
deep brown colour, some quickly disappearing brownish head; aroma of fresh american hops with grapefruit and roasted malt; taste of roasted malt, hops with citrus notes - such like a mix of an IPA and a porter
4.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 Grzesiek79 (2348) - Radom, POLAND - APR 20, 2013
Znakomite ciemne IPA z Colorado. Piana spora ale sredniotrwala. Kolor istnie czarny, gesty i jak Guinness bez przeswitu. Zapach chmielowo-kawowy. Smak to gozka czekolada, gozka czarna kawa, troche orzecha i oczywiscie przerozne chmiele amerykanskie od aromatycznych po zwlaszcza goryczkowe. Polecam bo to swietne Black IPA

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Ughsmash (6665) - Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA - APR 17, 2013
Bottled. Poured medium-deep brown with a creamy, well-retained dark tan head. The aroma picked up fresh orange and grapefruit hoppage over toasted caramel and nutty malts.. seemed to be missing a little something, but it was well-balanced. The flavor found toasted caramel and licorice at the core with mostly orange zest bitterness around.. bitter and roasty with a bit of citrus sourness on the finish. Medium-bodied at most on the palate, and a bit slick.. OK feel, but I didn’t love it.
