That time of year when the light fades away. Brewed for the darkness, Fade to Black speaks in volumes. Welcome to Volume 4, the Beer pours pitch black with an off white head. Citrus (bergamot) and roast dominates the nose. Slight sweet malt gets pushed back by initial citrusy hops followed by powerful Italian Amaro, gentian and hop bitterness. Finishing with a pleasant duality of dry roasted malts and hop bitterness.

Znakomite ciemne IPA z Colorado. Piana spora ale sredniotrwala. Kolor istnie czarny, gesty i jak Guinness bez przeswitu. Zapach chmielowo-kawowy. Smak to gozka czekolada, gozka czarna kawa, troche orzecha i oczywiscie przerozne chmiele amerykanskie od aromatycznych po zwlaszcza goryczkowe. Polecam bo to swietne Black IPA

Great citrus aroma. The beer is very dark colored. The brown head disappears in a few seconds. The taste is caramel and bitter (hoppy). Great beer.

UPDATED: FEB 9, 2014 Serving: from bottle--purchased at Full Throttle Bottles. Aroma: moderately grainy-malty with chocolate overtones. Appearance: very small, light-brown, initial head that disappeared in seconds. Fair lacing. Dark-brown/black, cola-like body. Taste: lightly sweet, roasty initial flavor and finish with long duration. Palate: medium-to-full body with watery texture and lively carbonation. Overall: excellent. Interesting flavor to the last drop. Neither too sweet nor too bitter.

Comes out of the tap an opaque coffee brown with a thin tan head. Aroma had notes of roast malt and quality coffee plus a snip of hops. Flavor has rich mocha and hop notes, like the best stout mixed with the best IPA, plus caramel, nutty, earthy and licorice tones and a fruity hint. Not too sweet, not too bitter. Firm texture is quite smooth and quite fizzy, leaving a hoppy mocha finish. Don’t fade away, drink one!

Beautiful dark beer. I do t get much from the nose but I'm kind of smell-blind so don't trust my opinion. It's roasty, citrusy, hoppy and bitter. Even and complex. Delightful. Jon Harris

12oz bottle. Bottled on 11/08/2012. Black pour. creamy head, btown color. nice lacing. smells of cough syrup, citrus hops, burnt grains. Tastes of coffee, burnt grains, molasses, loads if citrus hops. Nice char, great hops. A great Black IPA. Finishes with a oily texture, creamy body. (3550).

Color certainly matches the title. Thin, creamy head floats atop a pitch black body. Very strong pine hops are noticed first. Charred wood comes through next, followed by sweet malt. Bitterness from the hops really linger. More than 60 IBUs almost make you pucker. Chocolate comes through as it warms. The balance is what makes this so good. There is enough going on with the sweetness, bitterness, texture, and char to give it great flavor.
