Summer is over, but cheer up pretty people, itís time for the newest installment in our Fade to Black Series. This Rye Ale boasts a deep dark brown body with an off white head. This dark brew envelopes your nose with aromas of dark coffee, maple wood and hints of dark agave nectar. The flavor is an intense evolution that starts off with nut bread flowing into molasses followed by a taste of licorice. This lands on spicy rye notes all before being washed away by earthy hop, leaving behind a slight black pepper sensation. So put away the bathing suit, pop a bottle of this black beauty and watch summer fade way.

Dark Brown black pour from a bottle with a medium khaki head. Nose is dark roasted malt domination with some coffee and lots of earthiness. Taste is a nice mix up front of dark malt, hop, some rye, into a sweet coffee hazelnut finish.

Draft at the brewery. Pours black with a thin, fizzy beige head. Tastes like creamy, sweet cinnamon and cocoa, with a light pepper spice. Light/medium body and low carbonation. Smells like sweet cocoa, brown sugar, and cream.

Pours black with a mid sized head. Aroma is fudge, chocolate and marsh mallows. Surprisingly thin mouth feel; almost watery! Taste is quite dry and has notes of smoke, wood, fudge and some chocolate. Harsh finish. Nope, didnít like this one! Too dry.

Sample at Daily Growler. Pours dark brown with a medium tan head that recedes gradually. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt, hops and coffee. Medium-bodied with flavors of roasted coffee, earthy hops and malt. The finish is subtle rye bread with a malty aftertaste. Decent overall.

Roasted/burnt notes, coffee, bread, nuts in aroma. Very pleasant! Clear, dark brown with one finger beige head. Medium sweetness with a nice light backing bitterness. Almost a sticky feel to it, but medium bodied. Overall really nice!

Pours black with a dense, light tan head that leaves lots of scuzzy lacing. Aroma is roasted malt, coffee, light maple syrup (power of as suggestion?). Flavor is roasted malt, light licorice, coffee, light spiciness. Mildly sweet, mildly bitter. Medium mouthfeel.

A very mild aroma with hints of coffee and vanilla bean. Pours dark black and has taste of coffee, cream and slightly sweet at the start but very malty finish. Best one of the series yet
