Pours lightly hazy brown with a small, creamy, beige, film head. Good duration. Sweet aroma, rye bread, caramel and cinnamon. Fine, creamy mouthfeel. Flavour has liquorice, caramel, sweet malts, but a bit of a hops balance. Okay for the type. thedm (3406), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Jun 24, 2008 This bottled brew from Indianapolis was marked as being from 2007. It poured a mug of all foam made up of finely sized tan colored mostly diminishing bubbles. The body was transparent soft carbonated and golden brown in color. The aroma was musty with a mild smoky aspect. The mouth feel was tingly and crisp from start to finish. The flavor contained notes of malt smoke and was semi-sweet. hotstuff (3045), Indiana, USA Apr 9, 2008 Bottle marked 2007 bottle conditioned.Large frothy, fizzy ivory head that mostly diminished, transparent, spotty lacing, carbonation observed, and an orange hue. Nose was mildly smokey, malty, caramel, sweet, and a subtle hint of toffee. Flavor was sweet, malty, caramel, mildly smokey, and a hint of toffee. Mouthfeel was lightly tingly. Medium in body.Quaffable, easy to drink, but not a beer that I am interested in having again as I do not especially care for a smokey beer taste. jcweaver (58), VA Beach, Virginia, USA Apr 5, 2008 Extremely cloudy amberish brown in color with an almost nonexistent head. The nose was very smoky with an underlying aroma of cherries. The flavor was very smoky with an oaky (maybe hickory) after taste. It has a nice mouthfeel, sort of heavy on the tongue, but not too carbonated. I tried this beer with some spicy mediterraean food I was preparing and found it pared, quite surprisingly, well with the spicier fare.
