Maltser85 (313) - Fargo, North Dakota, USA - SEP 19, 2014
Pours a golden orange color. Aroma is slight citrus with some sweet malt. Taste is slightly bitter, the citrus brightness dissipates. Slight pine and a hint of mint. Slight woody note. Not bad, just not remarkable. Slightly thin.

"An ok beer, but not up to the standards of the better IPAs out there, and there are many. I think a couple of the hop varieties used are english (not my favorite in this style). Dug the orange presence, though, so it was still a pretty good brew."

PorterPounder (5707) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - SEP 7, 2014
Savannah, Ga. - Habersham Beverage Warehouse - Abercorn St - 22 oz . Medium copper pour, light off-white bubbly head. Standard IPA aroma, hints of spruce and spearmint. Standard IPA flavor, with a solid citrus bitter backbone, some nice caramel maltiness, a hint of maple syrup sweetness. Mouthfeel has a decent thickness to it. A bargain at $4.29 for a bomber.

Pours a nice orange with lacing. Aromas are citrus and some dank. Similar flavors. Kind of boring but still not terrible.

Bottle. Pours a clear deep amber with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has grass and a perfumey pine note with an earthy grain backbone. Flavor has earthy pine and a bit of grass backed by some earthy grains.

Pours a deep orangish gold with a small head.

The aroma is a little sweet with some graham cracker and grassy hops. Itís a touch forward on booze as well.

The flavor is not terribly sweet, but yes has some honey an graham cracker to it the hops are pretty forward & have a grassy, herbal, and floral character to them. Itís certainly got some wood character as well as some booze.

Itís pretty close to displaying everything I donít like in IPAs, but somehow I donít hate it... whatever.

keanex (1503) - Atco, New Jersey, USA - JUN 29, 2014
Bottle, best by September 9, 2014.
Appearance: Clear and vibrant amber body with a creamy light tan head. The head has okay retention, becoming a bit foamy as it loses height.
Aroma: Big caramel malts and sweet orange, hints of grapefruit and underripe mango. Butterscotch also comes to mind, diacetyl? Thick aromas leaning sweet.
Taste: A bit thin after the aroma, diacetyl is mild but showing buttery throughout. Mild grapefruit bitterness. The diacetyl is showing more the more I drink it. The finish lingers a bit bitter.
Palate: Slightly slimy, thin medium bodied with moderate carbonation.
Overall: Maybe itís the bats, I am not sure, but thereís something here that I do not like. Even without the diacetyl I donít think that this is a standout beer.

Bomber, best by 09/09/14, very cool idea. Nose is heavy orange, zest and rind, with heavy grapefruit and light tropical leanings, lightly dank, some paper and scratchier resins. Weak caramel malt anticipated, but juicy hops. Pours deep but clear orange-red with a dense and creamy beige head. Taste is strongly bitter but not excessive, semi-dry (which is to say semi-sweet) with all of the he above flavors and some doughier edges. Good wood and medium spice from the hops, clean yeast and a touch of soapy cleansing, very fresh and citric with only an average malt background. No alcohol showing, but the mouthfeel is very heavy and wears a bit, medium body otherwise bright, fresh, and clean. Really punches through!

zoucrew102 (616) - - JUN 14, 2014
Bomber. Nice citrus/hop aroma but no hint of the maple. Pours copper colored with a thin off white head and a little bit of resin. Tastes good to start with notes of citrus, hops and perhaps a bit of toffee. Finishes dry with a very resiny, earthy flavor that kind of detracts from the beer overall. Decent.

SO, I saw this and thought "Didnít Cigar CIty do this exact same beer?", then I saw that this is in fact some sort of collaboration deal and a lot of breweries are are doing the same beer. Got it. Anyway, not a bad IPA, but not a whole lot of spice or maple character.
