Bottle @ home shared by LeninCat. Thanks Lenin! Pours a hazy dark orange appearance with a fluffy khaki head. Fairly herbal, doughy, biscuity, woody, a touch sweet aroma. Slightly oxidized, woody/herbal, cracker/doughy, light citrusy flavor. A bit old but not something I think Iíd like normally.

Bomber from Beer Run. I didnít even realize this is a fundraiser project, so Iím glad to learn it is and that a relatively local brewery (Center of the Universe) participated. Pours a clear amber color with a large foamy tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of strong citrus notes, pale malts and mild wood. The taste is raw wood notes, pale malts, caramel, herbal, resin hops. Medium bodied, well balanced, lingering bitterness. Nice beer.

Sample at Luckyís in Dayton. Clear dark amber color with a medium thin fluffy off-white head that recedes steadily to an outer ring. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of hops, malt and fruit. Medium-bodied with flavors of earthy hops, malt and citrus. The finish is mildly bitter with a grassy hops aftertaste. Decent overall.

Bomber. Poured clear, bright golden with a sticky off-white head. The aroma picked up nutty and sweet caramel hops topped by grassy notes and a little citrus.. very much on the malty side. The flavor found dry orange zest laced throughout.. sweet biscuity malts supported.. finished with a lot of sugars lightly cut by tangy orange zest. Medium-bodied with high-ish carbonation on the palate.. this just didnít come together very well.

22oz bomber pours with a crystal clear copper body that has thin gold edges and supports a nice looking semi fluffy light tan head of foam. The aroma offers up a mix of sweet malts, some spicy wood and a bit of citrus hops. The taste begins with spicy wood blending into some pine and citrus hops that swirl around a thin stream of sweet maltiness. This has a pleasing degree of assertive hoppiness where thereís plenty of balance and depth with firm hop bitterness and mild malt sweetened hop flavor. Nice. This is right at the top for me in this Homefront series.

Bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy, off-white, mostly diminishing. Body is medium to dark amber. Aroma is moderately malty (toasted grain, caramel), moderately to heavily hoppy (resin, grapefruit), with a note of orange juice, maybe a note of wood? Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic. What a goofy beer, apparently being brewed by a bunch of breweries nationwide. From the atrocious, dopey label art to the whole "maple bats" thing, itís hard to take the beer seriously. The orange adjuncts mostly blend in with the resin-grapefruit hop odor...so all in all, it seems like a fairly ordinary, simple IPA with maybe a little splash of orange juice. Every once in awhile I think I catch a whiff of raw wood, but itís hard to be sure. I guess I can appreciate "beer for a cause", but why is it almost always silly novelty beer that I would never want to buy again?
