COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Imperial Stout is a silky smooth, very flavorful black brew. It is a traditional style of strong stout originally brewed in Britain for export to St. Petersburg, Russia. The malty sweetness of the beer is tempered by a medley of roasted malt and the aggressive use of hops. A long conditioning time gives the brew time to mellow and mature. The beer is not filtered, allowing every subtlety and nuance to be enjoyed.

Dark chesnut color with a minimal head. (acually the second pour from this bomber created a nice tight tan head). Amomas primarily of malt. Flavors are quite sweet (toffee, brown sugar). Finishes with a nice dark malt linger.

The head is ok, the body black. The flavour is very tasty, chocolate, coffee, a bit caramel, full bodied. Very nice Imperial Stout! 13/12/12/12/13/12

Tap @ beer temple. Pour pitch black, with a small creamy off-white head. Aroma is packed, of bitter coffee and chocolate, Slight caramel, roasted malts. Taste is sweet up front, with a heavy dose of bitterness at the end. Full bodied, with a semi flat carb. Very very smooth. Silky smooth indeed.

Poured into a snifter. Labeled as "Wake Up Dead." 4.5 A: Black color. Two fingers of light brown frothy/creamy head. Retention is better than average with the last 1/4 inch being particularly stubborn. Plentiful, mountainscape lacing is left. 3.5 S: Moderate roastiness. Chocolate cake batter, molasses, a good bit of caramel, and coffee underneath. Booze is exceedingly well hidden. I can’t detect a thing. Well balanced with well integrated flavors, but it’s just not impressing me like I thought it would. 3.5 T: Like the nose, this is full of chocolate, cake batter, and caramel. Molasses right behind along with light coffee and a minor dark fruitiness. 4.5 M: Heavier medium body with a silky, slickness to it. Good moderate carbonation. Nice here. 4.0 D: Solid imperial. Good, complementary flavors with a great mouthfeel. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 05-17-2012 01:16:35

The malts offer tastes of both caramel, chocolate, coffe and liqourice, complemented by bitter hops giving the beer a full, round and creamy taste that feels like it could last forever. Just how a good imperial stout should be, I think.

Pours pitch black with a small tan head. Nose is chocolate and malt. Taste full of flavor with the alcohol well hidden. Taste is sweet and malty with chocolate and some mild espresso notes. Nice finish, taste lingers ... an enjoyable and easily drinkable stout. Quaff Score ( drinkability with hearty enjoyment ) 8 / 10

Pours a red-brown with a thin brown head and aroma of roasted malt. Taste is toasty and sweet, of roasted malt, chocolate, and coffee with a dry, malty finish. Alcohol is well hidden throughout, nice stout.

Pours a clear and dark brown beer with a weak offwhite head. The aroma is malt, licorice and chocolate. The flavor follows the nose with additional sweetness and alcohol. The palate is dry with sweetness and alcoholwarmth. Overall an average beer with a high level of alcohol.

1 year old bomber into snifter: Dark, dark brown/purple with a minimal dark head. Aroma is sweet, almost fruity....must be the raisins...licorice and hops. Vinous, roasted, but to me, lacking in a strong coffee or chocolate taste....slight alcohol burn, but otherwise quite smooth and well done. If I was given this without being told, I would probably think it was a barleywine, actually.
