Here’s a black ale to brighten your day. Wake Up Dead lurks in our cellars for over 4 months before being unleashed. Hints of raisins, black licorice, coffee and dark chocolate are followed by earthy, herbal hop notes. Any apprehensions about the rest of your day are quickly forgotten, for whatever the mind expects, it finds. Sometimes you’re not in the mood for what everyone else is having.

This was the Nitro version, bottle to glass, pours black with smallish nitro head, light brown in color that lasted with good lacing. Heavy aroma of dark chocolate, roasted grain and some coffee.Medium to full body that was slick and creamy, with average carbonation and a fairly long bitter finish. Not as complex and full bodied as I had anticipated but still a good RIS.

12 oz. nitro bottle, from Dan. Pours black, with a medium, fine, frothy tan head. The aroma is light coffee and chocolate. Very sweet flavor, with just a little roasted bitterness. Heavy body, with a characteristically lively and velvety mouthfeel from the nitrogen. This is a relatively light and easy drinking imperial stout; smooth and tasty, but not very complex.

Bottle from giant eagle gahanna. Nose is licorice and raisins. Pours black. Drinking a bit warm and maybe it needs to be colder?? Too much licorice taste and needs a bit more fullness to the body for the style. Would be a really good milk stout if this was smoother. Prob won't go out of my way to get it. ---Rated via my mouth

12 oz Bottle Nitro. Tasted on 8/3/14. Bottle courtesy of Espo. The beer pours to a deep black color with a light tan nitro head. The aroma has licorice, some chocolate & raisins. The taste is smooth & creamy from the nitro with a sooth & dry finish. Overall a nice Russian imperial. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Appearance: Dark brown/black with cm thick tan head. Aroma: Treacle, licorice, resinous, subtle marzipan, herbal, malty, note of stewed fruit and umami. Taste: Low/medium bitter and sweetness with low sourness. Palate: Smooth thick oily texture, medium body, low carbonation, lingering malty, treacle, fruity finish with alcohol warmth and dryness and cold coffee bitterness. Comments: Lovely and slight lacing.

Nitro The Wake Up Dead Imperial Stout pours jet black with a thick foamy tan brown head that lasts the duration of the beer. The aroma is raisin, black licorice and chocolate. The flavor is dark chocolate and coffee up front followed by raisin and black licorice. Overall this is a delightful brew and I find the nitro quite favorable.

12oz bottle pours dark chestnut brown black with some faint light edges and 1 finger head. Nose is roasty bitter dark fruits, baker’s chocolate, raisin. Taste is a little thinner than expected but still decent creaminess, some nice light roasty dark chocolate, coffee bean, dark fruits. Finish is bitter fruity chocolate, burnt coffee, cocoa, touch of sticky sweetness.

Pours a nice rich black color with a foamy brown head. Smells sweet like candy. Taste is fairly rich with some coffee notes hidden in there. Decent beer.
