Commercial Description:
Ingredients: Water; Malted barley; Ginger root; Hops; Yeast.
Our beer is basically a pale ale brewed from a relative low gravity, with some of the hops which would normally be used in the beer replaced by freshly ground ginger root. The beer is light in body, lower in alcohol, has a distinct ginger aroma, and has a very crisp finish. It was initially brewed as a refreshing alternative to the plethora of wheat beers which are popular in the summertime. Popular demand turned it into a year round beer.

The beer has a refreshing smell upon first experience. The ginger stands out and had my hopeful for something more rewarding. However, the taste falls short. It is a bitter ale without the kick of hops as a reward. There is little balance.

Hadn’t had this one for a while until this evening and I’ve now remembered that this definitely stands up in the world of actual alcoholic ginger beers. Lots of ginger coats the palate and sticks around after each sip. Very complementary to the rest of the beer. Stands up well to the Hitachino Ginger.

Ah, session beers, my specialty. Smell is a tad yeasty sweet with a little hint of hop in there. Slightly darker and a little more cloudy than yer typical pale yellow beer. Yes, first taste is a laid back alky drink that is not initially overspiced. No real bitttersnes and the spices are what seems to add to this relatively mild drink. Ginger baby! Some maltiness continues to stick up its head here and there. Decent carbonation but not sizzling by any stretch of the immagination. Finish is friendly with some annoying veggy hints. Nice beer but not sure if this can be sessioned 3-6 at a time.

Bottle. Not much to say here. Frothy white head does not last. Funky aroma that smells a bit sour. Not a lot of flavor on either the hops or the malt side. Not even a particularly strong ginger flavor. I like regular non-alcoholic ginger beer, so I thought this would be interesting to taste, but there’s really not much there.

(bottle, 35.5cl) Hazy, orange to amber colour with a short and slightly yellow frothy head. Citrus-fruity and slightly woody hoppy aroma with a mild malty and spicy background. Slightly bitter flavour, light bodied with a moderate carbonation. Soft malty body with noble hops character; dry and slightly bitter and fruity hoppy finish with present ginger spice. Might be a good thirst quencher in the summer. 21.XII.09

Pours a very clear, golden color with low amounts of carbonation and a moderately dense head that fades down to a very thin filmy white head. Aroma has a ginger presence mixed with a very grainy base malt sweetness and finishes with a grassy note. Flavor is overpowered by a heavy ginger root note, not a sweet ginger ale type of flavor. A sweet grainy note, a light grassy hops presence are present with it finishing out with a very pronounced green tea type of flavor and texture. The brew has a very light density associated with it, a very clean crisp texture to it and very low carbonation present. Overall the flavors worked well, very clean but I find the ginger to be a bit too much. Although I am not a big ginger fan, I still say this is a decent brew to give a try.

Bottle. Poured a slightly cloudy orangish gold with a small white head. Aroma had notes of ginger, citrus and malt. Flavor had strong ginger notes as well as some grainy malts.
