Draft. Poured clear dark reddish brown with an average frothy light brown head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy toasted malt. Medium body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. This is a soft good beer.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 joshwilfong (1200) - Cleveland, Ohio, USA - JAN 22, 2011
medium brown and clear with large white head. slight maltiness to the nose. little bitterness before some low sweetness with a touch of english yeast. overall little flavor and no notes of roast. more of a sweeter southern style of the version. overall the flavor is lacking, especially for such a high abv.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 pottygok (240) - Ohio, USA - JAN 13, 2011
Served on Draft to Celebrate the Winking Lizard’s (Northeast Ohio Bar Chain) 25th Anniversary of their World Tour of Beers.
Aroma: Light Caramel and Toasted Malts.
Appearance: Sparkling Red Orange with thin, white head.
Taste: Medium-Heavy Sweetness
Palate: Medium Body, thin texture, light carbonation, minimal finish.
Overall: I got a free glass, which was cool. Outside of that, not much to say. It reminded me of a mediocre lager.
3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 beergodd1 (382) - Conneaut, Ohio, USA - JAN 13, 2011
Served at the Winking Lizard in Mentor Ohio. Nice glass to keep.
Beer was pretty good too. Had a nice foamy head, then it kept a fine layer all the way to the bottom, with nice lacing. Clear Copper/Amber (it was dark in there).
Not much aroma, but what I did smell, was some roasty malt and a sweetness like candy. Tasted Toasted Malt, Some sweet/spicy yeast, maybe. As it warmed up it really got smooth. I tried to drink it slow and wait for my wings, but I drank it pretty quick.
Medium body, not much in the way of hops, but an easy drinking brew. I would get again.
