3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: MAR 25, 2007 Attractive dark brown pour with chestnut highlights. The head is thin and off white, not quite tan. Dissipates quickly and there is virtually no lacing. The aroma is average. Faint coffee, slight roasted malt but mostly sweet. The flavor starts off sweet and sugary and transitions nicely into roasted malt. Pleasant mouthfeel and aftertaste. Kinda like a "Stout Light".

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: NOV 11, 2012 Re-rate, original was from 2006....19 years old.
This was from the nitro bottle. Nice pour, clean and opaque black with some garnet hints around the edges. One solid finger of dense creamy mocha tan head. Nose shows a clean roast with hints of grain husk and fresh ground coffee. Bittersweet chocolate and burnt sugar in the flavor. A light black coffee acidity and notes of fruit skin show on the finish. Full bodied with a round velvety palate.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Definitely an interesting beer. As my first milk stout, I didn’t quite know what to expect. When first sipped, the taste takes a second to hit. After it does, the milk and stout arrive at the same time. It makes for a different but interesting taste. This is a good, well ballanced beer that makes me want to try other milk stouts.
This would make a good beer for a clam night of drinking.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Poured from bottle. Finally, my 1st try at a Left Hand brew. Coffee/toffee/smoky aroma with hop/herbal background. Head doesnt stick around too long - cola-like appearance. I noticed the creamy feel first before the flavor. Then, I noticed the malt - nutty, with a hint of cocoa. Aftertaste then kicks in - some hops with roasted vegetable (okra?). I dont really taste the sugar so much. A thoroughly enjoyable milk stout.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Deep dark colors with a full body. Coffee aroma abound. Warm, thick and creamy. Roasted chocolate with a silky finish, that has a very slight bitter finish. It’d be nice if they made an imperial with this recipe.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle: Black pour with a tan head. Aroma, chcolate milk, coffee, a bit sweet. Flavor, milky, some chocolate. The body is a bit on the thin side, but it’s certainly sessionable.

2.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottle. Started out Great, But got plain Sticky. Great creamy head, full coffee and mocha smell, but the taste..
Too sweet, too much - reminds me of a molassas added beer Dragon Stoudt, they just put extra sugar in the mash. I guess I prefer a more stately and basic guiness style.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours dark with a nice tan head. Aroma of coffee and sweet chocolate with a hint of dried fruit. Taste follows aroma but adds roastiness. Thickness is just right for this, and the light bitter finish only adds to the experience. A must-try beer.

4.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: JUN 1, 2007 This stuff is certainly dark and stormy, just the way i like it! Black as night, so dont let the milk in the name fool ya, it contains no calcium, so dont pour it on your cereal in the morning. Wait, go ahead and pour it on, should make a nice eye opener.SUPER rich and creamy with lots of roasty taste...sooooo goooood

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
The 12 ounce bottle poured a deep garnet colored beverage with a modest fizzy tan head that was mostly diminishing but left some lacing on the glass. The aroma was somewhat complex with notes of dark, sweet dried fruit, chocolate, coffee and caramel with a hint of aged leather in the background. The body was slightly lacking for a stout - medium - with average carbonation and a slightly watery texture. The flavor starts out sweet as you might expect. The flavors remain true to the aromas. The finish is medium-long with the sweetness giving way to a light bitterness at the end.
