COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This English style of beer, also known as Sweet Stout or Cream Stout, first appeared in London in the late 1800’s. The early brewers touted the health benefits of the milk sugar in this beer which today relates mainly to the increased amount of calories(no real health benefits…sorry). The milk sugar adds a well rounded sweetness to this dark beer and makes it an outstanding, year ‘round stout.

This is part of a beer club. Had only one bottle but was decent for the price. Poured great and had a nice finish. Would do again.

12oz Bottle
A deep dark brown color with a thin head. The aroma was that of a deep rich dark malts and chocolate and coffee. The flavors where also deep and rich and this was a great stout. Loved the rich dark malts and the smooth silky taste. This could be used with some ice cream and would be a great beer float. A great cooking beer also. This was a wonderful beer.

Bottle. Medium high but lasting light brown fluffy head. Well its not pitch black but its close to. Coffee aroma, good and simple maybe just a hint of chocoolate. Flavor of coffee, choccolate pretty mild though. Little bitterness, long aftertaste. Pretty good for a beer with such a relatively low alcohol percentage.

Smells earthy and like caramel, very sweet. Pours an opaque black with a small tan head. Taste is sweet chocolate with coffee. Very thick and flavorful. A tasty stout I’d like have again.

UPDATED: SEP 26, 2007 Bottle. This beer is great! Aroma of chocolates. Flavor is very creamy, chocolates, with a almost milkshake familiarity to it. I have to say it’s very easy to consume and I’ll be looking into this one in the future.

Bottle, poured dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma of chocolate. Flavor is nice, like a chocolate milkshake. Body, however, is thin and almost watery. I guess that makes it drinkable, but I was hoping for something with a little more substance. Good beer though.

Bottle.

Pours black with brown highlights and a relatively small head. Malty chocolate aroma; chocolate milkshake (well, vanilla soft serve w/ chocolate syrup at least) milkshake flavors. Gentle hop bite on the short side of the close, returning to bittersweet chocolate on the long end. Easy drinking save for a somewhat prickly fine carbonation.

Quite drinkable even if not particularly adventurous or challenging.
