Tap at KClingers. Pure black with ruby highlights around the edges, and a nice thich tan head which lasts for a while. Lots of roast and chocolate in the aroma. Flavor is nice and sweet with a good amount of toasted malts, crystal and some roastiness. Smooth finish.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 arjoseph (634) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUN 7, 2005
On tap at the brewery’s tasting room. 5 oz. glass. Opaque reddish black that is less opaque in the light. Light yellow-brown head diminishes to a dusting with a thick ring around the outside. Roasty and unsweetened chocolate aromas. Very smooth with a hard sweetness. Roast and chocolate are somewhat prickly up front, but settle into a smooth milk chocolate middle. Finish is slow in coming and subtle, but chocolate reemerges eventually. Medium body is lighter than I expected; this is like a very good imperial porter. Very quaffable, and uninteresting.

Pour is completly black with no head. Aroma is burnt malts. Flavor in mine is very weak. you get some roasted malts but everything goes down too smooth to get a good taste. Pretty weak for a stout.

I really enjoyed this one-a sweet stout with mellow hops that don’t destroy its overall flavor. I don’t understand where the milk and the cow on the label come into anything except in the way it feels on the tongue. But this one really went well with my steak. There was a bit of a burnt flavor in there but nothing out of the world. There doesn’t seem to be too much more to write about. I would, however, drink this one again and again and again.
3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 BeerBlockaid (683) - Jacksonville, Florida, USA - JUN 1, 2005
Pretty good, though I was hoping for it to be a bit more milky*. A little bitter and thin, but the flavour is definately there.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 TheBeerOrg (2136) - Louisville, Kentucky, USA - JUN 1, 2005
Black with tan head. Balanced between hints of roasted malts, chocolate and milky moutfeel. A bit thin, but excellent nonethenless. Light aroma of sweet malts. Hops are subdued and this is probably for the best.

Aroma was of sweet and coco malts. Black body and small cocolate head. Flavor was creamy sweet and was rich. Was smooth on the palate. An enjoyable beer.

This beer poured well with a thin, but enduring head. The mouthfeel was creamy and full and the flavoir was sweet and refreshing.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 sfontain (673) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - MAY 24, 2005
Nearly black but thin; a short-lasting, brown head. Heavy on the roast in the aroma, along with coffee and cigarette ashes (ew). Flavor starts out very sweet with a sugary, fruity taste; more of the cigarette ash. The finish is the most promising part; that’s where we see the coffee and some nice vanilla. Thickens as it warms up; needs to settle after opening to get some of the carbonation out. Starts out too harsh and with carbonation that is too bitey; let it settle and warm up and it starts to approach average. I feel a bit let down with this one.
