COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This English style of beer, also known as Sweet Stout or Cream Stout, first appeared in London in the late 1800’s. The early brewers touted the health benefits of the milk sugar in this beer which today relates mainly to the increased amount of calories(no real health benefits…sorry). The milk sugar adds a well rounded sweetness to this dark beer and makes it an outstanding, year ‘round stout.

Pours a dark brown, with light tan head. Swet malt, chocolate, nuts, and hints of roasted coffee. Quite creamy and sweet, it almost tastes artificial. Makes an excellent beer float though.

Pours dark but transducent brown with a thin, creamy beige head. Aroma is plenty of toast, sweet chocolate, candied nuts, lightly toasted marshmallows, herbal hops, and a some roast. Flavor has plenty of roast and chocolate, candied nuts, a hint of mellow coffee, lactose is evident, and maybe a little over the top if you concentrate on it. Finish is not too impressive, basically the flavor fades and there is a little more char, not a whole lot of added complexity. Body is a bit thin and sticky for the style as well as being a tad high on the carbonation.

Dark brown pour. Amber head. A little thin to the mouth. Aroma is chocolate and roasted malt. Taste is the same with a little anise and a subtle finishing hop thrown in.

Black as night w/ a slight yet luscious head; a killer, spot-on aroma; perfect dark malt flavor, sadly complicated by fusel and over-bittering; a tad thin yet creamy; not perfect, perhaps too complex, but quite quaffable nonetheless.

Very tasty. Points were lost for: lack of head on the bee and i thought it was a little thin when I wanted it to be creamier

Pours very dark brown with a dark tan head that is not as thick as hoped for. Good lacing though. Aroma is toasty malts and chocolate. It definitely delivers in the sweet department but fails to have the body to back it up. Overall, pretty ok.

Strongly flavored with liquorice, espresso, bitterish hops balanced by lactose. medium bodied, black clear, with a minimal light brown head.

Nice and dark color. Very, very dark brown, almost black. Has hints of burnt coffee, nuts, and caramel. Tastes of coffee, chocolate milk, and something a little sweet. Must be the sugar talked about in the description. Has a little bit more of a bite in the end than most stouts. Overall not too bad for a milk stout. Glad to finally have tried this one.

UPDATED: DEC 5, 2008 Crushed with Jakebra. Aroma of mostly coffee and some sweet milky-ness. It’s aight. Not anywhere as smooth as it should be. I’m comparing to Rogue Chocolate Stout, and this totally pales in comparison. But it is drinkable and somewhat very nice.

UPDATED: MAR 4, 2009 Pours a deep brown with aroma and flavor of chocolate, chicory, milk (cafe con leche), with zesty coffee bitterness. Some whole milk in the taste. Finshes creamy with coffee bitterness. Starts with milk chocolate, sweet coffee, and caramel and some nuttiness. It goes down like water- and with this ABV, it is hard to believe that it is this good. One of the best beers available in Florida, and an underrated treasure.
