COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This English style of beer, also known as Sweet Stout or Cream Stout, first appeared in London in the late 1800’s. The early brewers touted the health benefits of the milk sugar in this beer which today relates mainly to the increased amount of calories(no real health benefits…sorry). The milk sugar adds a well rounded sweetness to this dark beer and makes it an outstanding, year ‘round stout.

Dark brown with a nice sized tan head. Aroma was roasty and nutty with some chocolate. Very smooth and creamy with a nice dry finish. Sweet throughout but with a nice roaty complex for balance. A good sweet stout.

UPDATED: DEC 5, 2007 12 oz Bottle from John’s Grocery (Iowa City, IA). Poured into a conical pint glass. Pours an extremely dark brown, not really letting any light through at all and has a nice big creamy thick head. Aroma of toasted malt and the faint smell of coffee. A smooth stout that is very mouth friendly and goes down well. Malt, coffee, and maybe some chocolate. The finish is sweet, fitting well with a milk stout. The flavor is light, but not necessarily in a bad way. Goes down extremely well and leaves a pleasant aftertaste. Head definately laced the glass. A fine stout but a bit underpowered in regards to what I expected in taste.

Had this beer on 2/10/2003. Aroma is smooth and roasted. Color is a deep dark amber with good carbonation and a nice thick head. Taste is roasted and creamy. Starting with a rich full body it goes down with a velvety feel. Finish comes on with a creaminess that is full of a nice roasted flavor backed by a mild bitterness. Its an all around well balanced stout. This is a very drinkable and would be good any time.

Not bad at all actually. Black, a bit thin but sweet and full of taste. There is coffee, chocolate, roasted malt and somewhat to my supprise (all though this might just have been my imagination), milk.

Almost completely black color with a little ruby. Full brown head... looks like the head on a Coke, but fuller. Sweet roasted aroma. Tastes like roasted coffee with milk... delicious. A little chocolate in there too. Definitely a good, sweet, and sugary beer. More than enjoyable. 12 oz. bottle.
