3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Rated 11/17/06: Nice stout, lean but decent nonetheless. Roasted aroma with a kick of sweetness, sugary and appealing. Poured a semi-transparent dark brown, medium head that quickly dwindled and no lacing. Thin for a stout but he smoothness helps alleviate this. Flavor is good, creamy and sweet which really counters the roasted bitterness. Not blown away but it’s a very drinkable tasty stout.

Deep dark ruby brown. Soda like fizzy head. Sweetened coffee nose. Pleasant flavors, coffee, chocolate, faint licorice, subtle smoke, milky sweet. Somewhat thin body ruins this one in my opinion.

Ok, I’ve had enough milk stouts now to know it is one of my more favored styles. Pop the lid on this 12 oz brown bottle and you get than old musty aroma. In the background you can smell some roast hints in there. Rootbeery and choclatey is hiding in the background olfactory. The pour is dark and opaque, very nice representation of a dark beer. Tan off-white head is a girdle around the top of the brew against the inside of the glass. The taste is perhaps a bit more bitter than I prefer for this sweet style. Mild medium burnt bitter appears to attract the back of my throat. You can taste the influence of milk in there. Enjoyable as a dark beer but perhaps to intense to be repeatable as a session. Some milk stouts I have tasted are mild enough to be thought of as a session. Cannot measure up to sammy smiths oatmeal or Mackeson xxx. Even tho Bell’s Cherry stout is not considered a fruit beer, this is slightly better than that. Overall, OK for a sweet stout but could be a little more mannered, the +5% alky shows thru too much. Expected something a little bit different than this, do they make a Baltic stout?

milky, thick and fun. a great stout to drink if you want some ice cream or a glass of milk. aroma is malty and sour, the sour being the milk. the taste isn’t exactly like milk but exactly what i expected, a milky follow up on malt. pour was dark and with about an inch of foam. gret beer to finsh off the nite at the pub.

I’m not a huge stout fan, but I will say this one is pretty tasty. The aroma is full of chocolate and coffee in the nose and the flavor is like a mellowed out drink from starbucks. Its real creamy. Like I said, I’m not huge on stouts but this one would be a repeat buy

UPDATED: OCT 23, 2008 355ml bottle (Pikkulintu, Helsinki , American Week 2007).
BANG! Coffee. In spades - woh! And that’s before it’s reached your mouth. Once in the mouth you get it even more - with rich and dry stoutness.Possibly too ’’’’thin’’’’ in its stoutness, but that’s silly considering the enormous stout punch it gives you. And the colour is a beautifully deep red blackness.
Same as above. Super lovely. So drinkable.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours black with brown highlights around the edges, and has a thin, lasting, tan head. Aroma is very roasty with strong chocolate, coffee, and heavy cream notes. The body is medium--thinner than I’d like in a milk stout--but creamy. The flavour isn’t as complex as the aroma and is mostly grainy and chocolate with a hint of milk.

This beer pours a nice dark color to it with good head retention. There is a nice sweet milky smell to it. There is a good woody taste and very smooth and goes down easy.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
A solid sweet stout-aroma of roasted malt, coffee. Flavor is coffee, dark chocolate, licorice and malt. Body seems a little light for a stout but otherwise tasty. Dark walnut color. A keeper.

First milk stout I’ve ever had. Black pour with light tan lasting head. Smelled of roasted malts. Flavor is dominated by malted milk, with some smokey chocolate. Not too complex but I strongly enjoyed.
