COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This English style of beer, also known as Sweet Stout or Cream Stout, first appeared in London in the late 1800’s. The early brewers touted the health benefits of the milk sugar in this beer which today relates mainly to the increased amount of calories(no real health benefits…sorry). The milk sugar adds a well rounded sweetness to this dark beer and makes it an outstanding, year ‘round stout.

Pours a thick black with a large foamy tan head which dissipates rather quickly, leaving plenty of lacing. Aroma is strongly chocolate, with some coffee and dark roasts. Taste is rich chocolate with a little coffee. The taste is not bitter or harsh like an Impy but flat and smooth, like an alcoholic nesquick. A sessionable stout.

12 ounce bottle in pint glass. Dark brown/black with brown head and lace. Chocolate and chocolate chip cookie aroma. Medium chocolate flavor with complex hints of cinnamon and raisins. Nice mild bitter finish. Medium body and carbonation. An excellent sessionable stout, and I happen to like stout sessions.

35cl bottle from Systembolaget. Black with a tan head. Roasty, sweet milk-chocolate aroma. Flavor is a lot of chocolatey, sweet roasted malts, maybe a little coffee, but not very bitter overall. Palate is full and creamy. Really dug the milk-chocolate.

355ml bottle @ RBNAG’07. Nice dark red/brown body with a medium beige head. Slightly roasted malt and chocolate aroma. Flavor is mild and soft, gentle roasted malt, some dark chocolate, a hint of coffee and a bitter finish. A smooth and nice beer.

From bottle. Nice, dark color. Small head. Had a definite caramel taste which was OK. It wasn’t a bad flavor, it just that there’s not much else to it. I did enjoy how silky this beer was.

on tap at Taco Mac (beer of the month - dec ’07). wonderful stout! I’ve been anxious to try this one and I am glad I did finally. a dark black and full of chocolate and coffee aromas. outstanding palate... it is bitter on the tip of the tongue and smooth and creamy on the sides and back. medium to full body and quite delicious. highly recommended stout.

Bottle. Pours brown tinted with some reds. Small dark tan head. Aroma is chocolate malt all the way with yeast undertones. Flavors of chocolate malt prevail over all. Smooth on the mouth, but a bit light for a stout. Decent chocolate malt aftertaste. Very easy to drink, almost wouldn’t call it a stout. But I liked the flavor so much it punched it up a bit.
