Commercial Description:
This English style of beer, also known as Sweet Stout or Cream Stout, first appeared in London in the late 1800’s. The early brewers touted the health benefits of the milk sugar in this beer which today relates mainly to the increased amount of calories(no real health benefits…sorry). The milk sugar adds a well rounded sweetness to this dark beer and makes it an outstanding, year ‘round stout.

Probably one of the most average beers I have ever had. Nothing stands out, nothing really even offers taste, the only thing you get is a smooth artificial sugary taste. There are better stouts for the price.

On tap. Pours a very dark brown, almost black, with a lasting brown head. Sweet coffee aroma, toffee, chocolate. Roasted, malty body, semi-sweet chocolate, and a tiny hint of lactic sourness. Good dessert beer.

On tap at Chumley’s Poured a brown/black with creamy tan head. The aroma is decent, with notes of coffee, milk, and perhaps some bitter chocolate. The flavor is pretty good, sweet malts, chocolate, a bit of coffee, and lactose come through. The mouthfeel is good, sticky, creamy, milky. Overall, it’s pretty good, but I tired of it more quickly than I’d prefer.

Now this is what I had expected out of Bell’s DCS, a very creamy and tasty stout indeed. Coffee and cream dominate the nose and mouth, and very thick feeling in the mouth. Up there with Moloko plus.

Very deep brown, just barely translucent beer with a very thin head that dissipated within several seconds. The first thing I noticed was the aroma. A deeply roasted aroma that smelled strongly of coffee and perhaps dark chocolate. The beer filled my mouth in the best possible way, and wasn’t unpleasantly bitter.
