COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This English style of beer, also known as Sweet Stout or Cream Stout, first appeared in London in the late 1800’s. The early brewers touted the health benefits of the milk sugar in this beer which today relates mainly to the increased amount of calories(no real health benefits…sorry). The milk sugar adds a well rounded sweetness to this dark beer and makes it an outstanding, year ‘round stout.

Quite a sweet, earthy and molasses aroma. Quite pleasant. Its appearance is brownish-black, no head, but the carbonation fades fast. That’s why I gave it a three for palate. If I was Left Hand Brewing, I’d work on that. Nice flavors of prunes, chocolate, with a sweet and somewhat smokey finish. Medium-thick mouthfeel. Nice overall

UPDATED: MAY 18, 2008 Pours dark with a hint of amber. Brown head. Rich malty aroma. Sweet, with java and chocolate. Nice finish for a lighter stout.

Pours a deep brown, almost black, with a tan head that leaves heavy lacing. Aroma is sweet with notes of chocolate, coffee, and milk. Sweet and smooth describe the taste. I can also taste some chocolate and coffee. Finishes very smooth. Quite a tasty stout.

Bottle. Pours very dark brown with thin, disappearing tan head. Aroma is sweet and roasted. Flavor is rich and sweet, coffee and notes of chocolate. Well balanced, very smooth and very drinkable. Would make a good session beer.

Pours a dark brown/black with a quickly disappearing light brown head. Aroma of roasted malt. Taste is pretty sweet with notes of chocolate, coffee and roasted malt. The overall flavor is good but it doesn’t really stand out at all. Leaves a slighly burnt lightly milky aftertaste. Mouthfeel was a little dissapointing, pretty thin - but it redeems itself with a silky smoothness. Overall, it’s solid.

Bottle. (RBNAG 07) Pours a clear, dark brown body, under a beige head. Roasted nose with cocoa, nice. It almost feels dry and dusty, not as sweetish as expected. Roasted flavor with some fruityness, dryish, yet quite sweet. Quite dusty mouthfeel for a milk stout, medium to full body. Really nice, lovely balance between the sweetness and roastyness. Thx for bringing this one, Sigmund. (071103)

Nice Stout. Sweet aroma, sweet coffee/cream flavor. Great appearance, when I bring home a sixer, I’m lucky to get 2 before my roommates pound them all.
