COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This English style of beer, also known as Sweet Stout or Cream Stout, first appeared in London in the late 1800ís. The early brewers touted the health benefits of the milk sugar in this beer which today relates mainly to the increased amount of calories(no real health benefitsÖsorry). The milk sugar adds a well rounded sweetness to this dark beer and makes it an outstanding, year Ďround stout.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Pours a clear, reddish brown with a creamy, off-white head. Lightly sweetish aroma of chocolate and hard roasted malts. Medium body, lightly sweet roasted malt and also both chocolate and coffee notes. The finish is short and dry. Quite pleasant. 250308

Pours a nice dark brown color. Chocolate and mild roastiness in the aroma. Flavour is very nice with strong notes of milk chocolate and some roasty, coffee and sugary milk notes. smooth oh palate. Dry and sweet finish. I can definitely pillage this beer.

Iím stuffed. I just made a pizza, ate most of it (my wife ate two pieces), and now Iím sitting on the couch, grabbing my belly, and going: OOOOOOOOOH. Iím full. So I open the Left Hand I bought today. A couple six packs in the back of the grocery. The first shipment in this city and itís not even on the shelves. It has the milk stout taste that Duck Rabbit has, only not as pronounced. Little bits of sweetness mixed in with the stout. Nice. It can make it through this belly...it can...

UPDATED: SEP 19, 2014 Bottle. Dark brown/mahogany, diminishing beige head. Smooth, rich coffee flavor; sweet with some offsetting roastiness. Creamy mouth feel. Cafe au lait? If Starbucks sold beer, this would be it. Tried as Nitro: Itís not the same beer. Nitrogen softens the palate, but takes away a certain bite. Irish stouts are have a roastier bite to them, and CO2 would exacerbate that bitterness. For a sweeter stout, I think the CO2 would be better. As is, this needs an edge. It appears they sell it both ways, so why does RB force them to be rated together?

12 oz bottle. Pours a nearly opaque dark brown with 2 cm of foamy tan head that is mostly diminishing. Aroma is sweet malt and smoke. Initial flavor is is chocolate and cream. Flavor ends more malty. After taste lingers for a short time. Light lacing, next to no carbonation, light to medium body, and alcohol didnít really make its presence known. Very drinkable beer that pretty much follows what I expected.

Enough burnt malt to perfectly balance the lactose sweetness. Draught at Circa 4/3/08.
