COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This English style of beer, also known as Sweet Stout or Cream Stout, first appeared in London in the late 1800’s. The early brewers touted the health benefits of the milk sugar in this beer which today relates mainly to the increased amount of calories(no real health benefits…sorry). The milk sugar adds a well rounded sweetness to this dark beer and makes it an outstanding, year ‘round stout.

Bottle. Dark brown, almost black, with a thin light brown head. Potent roasted coffee aroma as well as chocolate and some sweetness. Flavours are sweet, but at the same time with good roast. Well-balanced. and delicious. Favorate stout

HOLY COW this beer is good. The taste of milk is there from the beginning and becomes more apparent as you let it sit on the palate. Tastes of coffee are also in the mix. Very good beer. Left hand really hit this one off the farm (get it?)

This beer poured almost black. While it isn’t thick by any means, this beer is as dark as they come. This beer pours with a rich thick head that actually went slightly over the top of my glass when poured. The foam lingered on the side of the glass as it settled and left just a small tiny bead. Immediately you could smell a rich roasty, coffee and chocolate like aroma with a slightly different hop smell. This beer had a very rich malty taste with a true roastiness to it. After a few seconds I noticed just an ever so slight creamy aftertaste that stayed on the middle of my tongue. Nice, and not chalky but borderline so. If you love coffee, you’ll love this beer. Even I enjoyed this beer while not being a coffee drinker. I love the smell of good coffee but prefer not to drink that bean. But this beer is very smooth.

April 2006 - Beer poured dark, dark brown with ruby highlights and nice one finger tan head (I love the dark colored heads). Aroma was milky and roasty. The flavor profile was dominated by coffee and the milky lactic flavor. Flavors blended much better as it warmed as the mouthfeel got even creamier and silkier. This beer wanted to be great, but something was missing, maybe a little chocolate or something to add a touch more sweetness to combat the lacticness. It was good, but not outstanding...comparable to Lancaster Milk Stout.

12 oz. bottle (dated 8/15/07). Pours a very dark brownish black. Nice thick head that quickly fades but lingers on the side of the glass. Strong aroma of coffee and dark chocolate that reminds me of sweet pipe tobacco. Good flavor and an aftertaste that really stays with you.

Bottle. Dark brown, almost black, with a thin light brown head. Potent roasted coffee aroma as well as chocolate and some sweetness. Flavours are sweet, but at the same time with good roast. Well-balanced. and delicious, even if not 100% true to the style.

UPDATED: APR 15, 2008 Pours black with a tan head. Very sweet nose with notes of chocolate, fruit, and roasted malt. Medium/full mouthfeel with notes of roasted malt, sweet chocolate and a hint of espresso. This beer exceeded my expectations by far. Very tasty and enjoyable.

Aroma of coffee with slight acidic yogurt notes at the end. Looks thin when held to the light, and is practically clear when held to the light. Head is small unless poured vigorously. Flavors are bold but end abruptly. This has a nice combination of residual sweetness and cafe au lait. Definite iodine here too. The combination of flavors occasionally clashes, leaving a strange aftertaste. However, the creamy, silky palate makes up for what the beer lacks in other departments.

12oz bottle. Very good stout. I am usually not one for milk types, but this has a characteristic that is distinguished. Hard chocolate tones with a coffee linger. Pours very well and has the looks of something you’d take home to your parents!

Pours dark, aroma of coffee is present, not much of a head. Over-all the beer wasn’t bad , just not what I was expecting.
