3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Last beer sampled at Cellar’s LexLarp in St Paul. History - The brewery was founded by Dick Moore and Eric Wallace in 1994. Originally wanted to be called Indian Peaks Brewing Company. Since Indian Peaks was a brand name used by 5280 Roadhouse Brewery of Littleton, CO, and Rock Bottom brewpub of Boulder, CO and the name was changed to Left Hand in honor of Chief Niwot. Niwot in Arapahoe means “Left Hand” This beer pours an almost opaque black brew with a tan head. Aroma of roasted barley malt, nuts and chocolate. Taste is like smooth bittersweet chocolate and coffee. Clean finish and smooth.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Darker brown color with a sugary aroma. The mouthfeel was very watery with an unpleasant taste that reminded me of spoilt milk. Not a fun beer.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: OCT 21, 2008 Sweet aroma, with notes of coffee and roasted malts. Appearance is a dark brown/red, slight head. The flavor has a chocolate coffe taste, with definite notes of lactose from the milk. This milk sugar adds a slightly sour taste to the overall sweetness. Mouthfeel is a little thick, and the finish is long lasting. Overall a decent stout.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
The aroma was deep chocolate and a fruity coffee presence. The aroma was toasty and roasty and contained a light sweetness and a touch of slight tart acidity. The beer poured into the glass black with a brown lasting head which hung around to lace the glass. The flavor was malty with a strong dark chocolate and espresso coffee presence. The flavor was not nearly as estery as the aroma, but still had a light bit of tart acidity from grains. The flavor was roasty, toasty and smooth. The body was medium or just a smidge above and with a moderate level of carbonation exhibited a creamy character in the mouthfeel. The finish was just dry with lasting espresso coffee and chocolate long into the aftertaste. This really is a great milk stout! 12 ounce bottle.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle courtesy of Shp555: Poured a medium black color stout with a medium foamy head with better then average retention. Aroma of light roasted malt with some coffee. Taste is also dominated by some coffee malt with a good lactose feel also noticeable. The creamy texture was very interesting with a nice full body. I thought this beer was well balance between roasted coffee malt and the creamy lactose aspect of it.
