COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This English style of beer, also known as Sweet Stout or Cream Stout, first appeared in London in the late 1800’s. The early brewers touted the health benefits of the milk sugar in this beer which today relates mainly to the increased amount of calories(no real health benefits…sorry). The milk sugar adds a well rounded sweetness to this dark beer and makes it an outstanding, year ‘round stout.

12 oz bottle, bottled date says "12". What is that? 1912? December? The 12th day of a mystery month? Anyway, pours into my English pint glass almost black with a beige head. Big roasty nose, coffee and chocolate. Somewhat sweet flavor, Roasty coffee, semisweet chocolate, light lactic notes. Very smooth body, medium full. Sweet milk chocolate finish. Well done!

Pours black with no head. Aroma of roasted malts and milk sugar. Heavy beer! Taste is bitter upfront with a sweet caramel-like finish. This could be your only meal of the day.

Pours opaque and black with a thin light brown head. The aroma is dark and burnt - like burnt toast with rich espresso. The flavor is bitter and rich with a little sweetness. It isn’t as sweet as some others in the style (like Mackeson). Very well balanced. Smooth rich, coffee flavor with a little hops, some yeast, and a little sweet malt. The finish is somewhat dry and bittersweet.

Really like this beer! True to style. Pours with a nice foamy thick head, which, while it doesn’t last too long, does persist some. Ditto lace. Lactose just offsets the stout. Nice carbonation. Almost opaque. lingering bittersweet taste. Having this now on draft at Bodega Brew Pub, where it’s also available in bottles.

Dark pour with a creamy tan head – looks thick and substantial when swirled in the glass. Sweeter than a lot of stouts, but that’s to be expected for something called “Milk Stout”. Smooth and silky mouthfeel. Lightly carbonated. Slightly sweet and creamy flavor.

Pours deep mahogany into an English pint. Off white pancake batter head does not recede. Dark chocolate and espresso aromas. Slightly thin and tingly with a sour chocolate finish.

Pours dark brown with a great mocha aroma. Palate is good. A great dessert beer.

Bottle. Pours inky black, with a smallish tan colored head. Aroma is chocolate, sweet rosted malt, coffee. Flavor is the same. Palate is medium, dissapointing for a stout, mildly carbonated, sweet finish. Nothing spectacular.

Dark brown to black color. Aroma of roasted malt. Smooth, with a taste of malt, caramel and some roasted malt. More bodied than other Stouts, a bit sweeter, quite good.

An excellent dessert beer. Not hoppy. Slightly sweet. Beautiful coffee/chocolate color, a hint of oatmeal, malty. To be sipped and enjoyed next to a fire. Nice to find in places outside of Colorado, since this style isnt made by many domestic brews.
