4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
12 oz bottle. Pours black-ish brown with a tiny white head. Strong coffee aroma... my first Left Hand beer and thus far I am not disappointed. Taste is also pretty fantastic... a lot of coffee, dark chocolate, milk? Ha. Don’t put it past me to imagine something because of the beer’s name, but there is definitely a milky sort of creaminess in this that is wonderful. Unfortunately, the creaminess is in the taste and not the body... which is really the only negative thing I have to say about this brew. Just a little thin. S’ok though, still a new favorite for me.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
12oz bottle bottled on 6/29/07. Pours dark brown/black with a tiny white head that all but disappears quickly. Aroma is nice milk chocolate, roastiness, malted milk balls, a wee bit of tobacco. Pleasant overall. Taste is rich, wet tobacco, dark chocolate, roasty. Medium bodied with a milk chocolate finish. This is pretty damn good if not exceptional. Pretty exemplary of the style.

3.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
draft at clark street alehouse. smelled initially like miller lite, perhaps because it came after surly darkness. tastes reasonably good though. very creamy, even for a milk stout. milky, chocolatey and very satisfying. body was smooth, and i thought it filled its niche perfectly like a spotted cow.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
A near-black beer with an average light brown head. Cocoa, sweet dark malts and mild coffee to the nose. Quite sweet-flavored; lactose, lots of malts and notes of sweet licorice, roast and milk-chocolate. Smooth texture. Good body. Dries up in the finish. A nice one. (Bottle @ RBNAG’07)

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Yet another damn good beer from Left Hand. I didn’t care for the first few I tried but these last ones are dead on. Aroma of vanilla, milk and malt. Pour was a deep dark brown with a thin light tan ring of a head. The taste was delicious. Milky and sweet with nice carbonation and just the right mouthfeel. Milk, vanilla and roasted malt in the front and a creamy aftertaste. I love sweet stouts and usually questioning why some are labeled as such. This one is clear.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: MAY 10, 2008 bottle. Pours dark brown, opaque with a thin tan head. Pleasent aroma has notes of chocolate and roasted malt. I can already detect some sweetness. The flavor was nice if somewhat muted. There were notes of chocolate, coffee, some sweetness, and some dark fruit. The finish is pleasently mild and only slightly bitter. The mouth feel is medium to light and it is fairly smooth but also pretty bland. This was a nice sweet stout but it was not as interesting as I had hoped. Just because it is sweet doesn’t mean that all of the flavors and aromas have to be dialed down. Slightly above average.
