2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Dark brown body with a small, fading tan head. The aroma is light and slightly tart with milk chocolate and molases. The flavor is mildly sweet with somewhat of a sour mash quality, chocolate and lactose. Medium/light body is very thin and watery with a touch of chalkiness on the finish.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Attractive black pour with substantial tan head that fluffs up and then lingers forever. The nose is coffee, chocolate milk and licorice. The flavors follow pretty much as anticipated by the aroma...coffee, chocolate milk, licorice, and a very creamy (milkly) mouthfeel that feels fairly luxurious on the tongue. There is a noticable tartness/sourness in the finish that I’m not sure was intended. OK.

3.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours black with a small brown head. Relatively weak aroma, but had a sour base. Quite smooth flavor with roasted malt as the lasting taste and good tingely mouthfee. Creamy flavor with hints of coffee, chocolate and a smokey base. Overall a very quality beer was silky smooth and relatively light for a stout.

Dark brown pour with ligh creamy head. Roasted malts and sweet cream flavor. A little tangy in the finish. As my first milk stout I though it was pretty good.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle, pours a brownish/black with a slight rim of a white head, no lacing. Aroma of intense roasted malts with some sweetness. Taste follows the same with mostly roasted malts. Fairly light and mild. Not bad but nothing special.

Tap @ Poor Phil’s in Oak Park: Thin, tan head with a dark body. Simple, mild milk aroma with licorice notes. Milk-like sweetness in the mouth with licorice notes in finish. Building coffee and roasted notes. Silky mouthfeel.

This milk stout pours a dark brown color with a medium tan head. This was my first milk stout, but I’d like to try others. Overall I enjoyed my first milk stout.
