This English style of beer, also known as Sweet Stout or Cream Stout, first appeared in London in the late 1800’s. The early brewers touted the health benefits of the milk sugar in this beer which today relates mainly to the increased amount of calories(no real health benefits…sorry). The milk sugar adds a well rounded sweetness to this dark beer and makes it an outstanding, year ‘round stout.

This brew has toasty roasty coffee notes in the aroma. Also, these aforementioned attributes are coupled with slight hints of chocolate. Reddish-black color is apparent in the dark but clear liquid. The head is a off-white color that settles quickly, leaving behind plenty of lace after the first drink, and so-on. Exquisite, well-balanced heavy-sweet flavor that is hard to compete with!!! Alcohol is evident in the nose. Full-bodied brew with a creamy texture. Combine these attributes with the soft carbonation and long, pleasant finish, and you have yourself a milk stout to brag about!!! Definitely recommended!!

Reviewed from notes. The appearance was a dark black color. Thin white foamy head that’s fairly level and lasts for a good minute. The smell had some dark roast coffee backed up by a decent amount chocolate malts. The taste was a roasty sweetness all the way through, slight roast chocolate aftertaste with a super dry finish. On the palate, it sits about a medium on the body with not much of a sessionable aspect to it. Carbonation is good for the style and for me. Really smooth and creamy. Overall, I say this is good milk/sweet stout that I would more than definitely have again in a heartbeat.

12 oz. bottle. Pour is jet black with a chocolate milk shake head, decent lacing. Aroma is espresso and milk chocolate. Taste is a great balance between the bitter coffee and creamy chocolate. Finishes with a coa coa hop note which ends up pretty dry and clean after a few seconds. Mouthfeel is smooth and creamy. My first beer from this brewery and I'm really enjoying it.

Bue en bouteille. Plutôt légère dans l’ensemble. Faible corpulence. On sent le cacao et le café. Discrète pointe sucrée sur la finale.

Coffee aroma with some mild chocolate notes. No hop aroma present. Appearance is black with tan head. Flavor has a refined coffee roast flavor with a sweetness from the lactose on the end note. Esters are medium. Mouthfeel is medium with moderate low carbonation. No astringency. Super dry finish. Overall, a great tasting milk stout. The nitro bottle version needs some more carbonation though. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured from a nitro bottle, beer has little nose, and tastes like foam at first. It’s the super smoothness of the finish of this stout that is so special, succulent, like candy. Too much of a good thing...

Opaque dark brown with minimal head. Wonderfully intertwined scent consisting of dark chocolate, roast, and malt. Absolutely delectable. Dark chocolate, malt, roast, cream, with a mild lingering bitterness. Roast is most apparent taste several seconds after. One of my favourites.

Smooth with good flavor; however, taste seems muted. Would drink again, but will not be my primary stout. (Drank with nothing else)

Good middle of the road stout. An almost automatic pick up when I’m heading out to a friend’s house.

Backlog. On tap at Green Lion Inn. Dominated by sour milk. This is seriously one of the worst beers i’ve had, it’s just not for me.
