COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This English style of beer, also known as Sweet Stout or Cream Stout, first appeared in London in the late 1800’s. The early brewers touted the health benefits of the milk sugar in this beer which today relates mainly to the increased amount of calories(no real health benefits…sorry). The milk sugar adds a well rounded sweetness to this dark beer and makes it an outstanding, year ‘round stout.

This brew has toasty roasty coffee notes in the aroma. Also, these aforementioned attributes are coupled with slight hints of chocolate. Reddish-black color is apparent in the dark but clear liquid. The head is a off-white color that settles quickly, leaving behind plenty of lace after the first drink, and so-on. Exquisite, well-balanced heavy-sweet flavor that is hard to compete with!!! Alcohol is evident in the nose. Full-bodied brew with a creamy texture. Combine these attributes with the soft carbonation and long, pleasant finish, and you have yourself a milk stout to brag about!!! Definitely recommended!!

Tasting notes for the Nitro Milk Stout: Difficult to know if the non-Nitro Milk Stout (tried alongside) if really a different beer, but there appeared to be a few nuances between then. Like the non-Nitro Milk Stout, the nose has a nicely light and beefy smokiness, like a barbecued beef steak - but this time with a bit of ground filter coffee. Mouth has a bit more mocha (to my mind), then there is a drier and less creamy/sweet end compared to the non-Nitro Milk Stout.

Pours very dark. Almost no head. Very malty almost no hops. Strong dark chocolate and coffee notes. Smooth and sweet. Lives up to the "milk" stout. Good beer.

Bottle from Cocktails, Littleborough as Left Hand Milk Stout Nitro. Black with an extremely thin head. Has a very smooth texture but certainly understated with its roasted malts. Its aroma is very light, and there’s only a small sweetness in its taste.

Pours a really nice jet black color. Chocolate and sweetness on the nose. Taste is smooth milk chocolate with a clean finish. Not a fan of the nitro. Gives it a smooth mouthfeel but also make it taste 'flat' for me. Almost like a flat soda like effect. Maybe needs a little more bitterness or carbonation. Not bad at all just want to try without the nitro. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
