COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This English style of beer, also known as Sweet Stout or Cream Stout, first appeared in London in the late 1800’s. The early brewers touted the health benefits of the milk sugar in this beer which today relates mainly to the increased amount of calories(no real health benefits…sorry). The milk sugar adds a well rounded sweetness to this dark beer and makes it an outstanding, year ‘round stout.

This brew has toasty roasty coffee notes in the aroma. Also, these aforementioned attributes are coupled with slight hints of chocolate. Reddish-black color is apparent in the dark but clear liquid. The head is a off-white color that settles quickly, leaving behind plenty of lace after the first drink, and so-on. Exquisite, well-balanced heavy-sweet flavor that is hard to compete with!!! Alcohol is evident in the nose. Full-bodied brew with a creamy texture. Combine these attributes with the soft carbonation and long, pleasant finish, and you have yourself a milk stout to brag about!!! Definitely recommended!!

Wittales (698) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - MAY 4, 2015
Appearance was clear jet black with creamy diminishing beige 1 finger head, spotty lacing. Aromas are soft chocolate, coffee, malt and lactose sweetness. Taste are creamy chocolate milk upfront then touch of malt sweetness and sugar mid sip. Coffee and black bitterness ends this wonderful brew. Palate was creamy smooth CO2 with medium body, an average balanced clean finish. Overall a super example of a Sweet Stout, try it.

The smells coming off this beer are extremely subtle. Very solid, thick beer with no light allowed through. Very slight hints of chocolate, but not a lot of overpowering flavor coming out of this

Pours black with thick mocha head. Aroma of subtle chocolate and dried cherries. Taste is smooth, sweet but not cloying. Chocolate and figs predominate. Thick mouthfeel. Good nitro backbone. Overall great milk/sweet stout ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tough to be reviewing a style which I discover that I don’t like upon opening the bottle. Cloyingly sweet to my taste and not in the same ballpark as, let’s say, a drier stout like Murphy’s. I had to Black and Tan this with a lager to get it down. Well, live and learn.

Medium chocolate taste, sweet, creamy. Pretty dark, almost black, but not too thick and heavy. Goes down smooth, not much bitterness from the hops. Decent carbonation and head. Was the first Milk Stout that I had tried I believe. Tried a few other cream/milk stouts since then, but not sure if anything as good as this. Will be buying again for some reassurance.
