This English style of beer, also known as Sweet Stout or Cream Stout, first appeared in London in the late 1800’s. The early brewers touted the health benefits of the milk sugar in this beer which today relates mainly to the increased amount of calories(no real health benefits…sorry). The milk sugar adds a well rounded sweetness to this dark beer and makes it an outstanding, year ‘round stout.

On nitro tap in a pint glass. Excellent creamy texture, smooth, and plenty of chocolate and malt aromas. Good section of head and excellent lacing on the glass. Plenty of malt on the palate with chocolate and notes of coffee. Overall an excellent stout. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

This is simply a milk Stout you could set your watch to... Has everything it needs to be good but nothing to make it elite. Standard roastiness with cocoa powder throughout. I was expecting a little more creaminess, a tad dry for the style.

Pours dark with a frothy light tan head. Smell is not strong, but still nice malty chocolate. Nice thick feel with a smooth stout flavor and just the right touch of pleasant bitterness. It’s a solid, not spectacular stout.

12oz bottle to tulip. Pours black with khaki ring head. Aroma of milk chocolate, caramel, toffee, toasted malts. Taste of sweet milk chocolate, cherry cola, toast. Bitter cocoa finish. Super heavy carb for style.

6.0 ABV. Seems pretty strong for a milk stout. More like an imperial milk stout. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

This is a very dark and creamy stout. It is a nice sweet flavor character. It only has a slight hoppy bitterness. I.e. Bittersweet chocolate
