COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This English style of beer, also known as Sweet Stout or Cream Stout, first appeared in London in the late 1800’s. The early brewers touted the health benefits of the milk sugar in this beer which today relates mainly to the increased amount of calories(no real health benefits…sorry). The milk sugar adds a well rounded sweetness to this dark beer and makes it an outstanding, year ‘round stout.

Awesome beer. ffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff />Earlier Rating: 5/10/2005 Total Score: 3.7
Deep brown color that appears black in the glass until closer inspection. Aroma is fairly rich, full of roasted chicory, cocoa, sugar covered raisins along with a slight hint of hops. Flavor is full of milk sugar and malt and its attributes, providing a creamy, sweetened blend of enjoyable flavors, such as cocoa, coffee and raisins. Somewhat overly bitter on the finish, but still an impressive brew.

Tap at three dogs tavern, Denver. Strong chocolate malt aroma very sweet, very inviting. Pours black with two fingers of light brown head that clings to the glass, nitroed. Very, very sweet with chocolate and a touch of coffee. Full-bodied beer with an extremely smooth finish. Excellent. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Very dark almost black. Milky coffee chocolate smooth. No bitterness and very drinkable. One of the better sweet stouts I've had. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

This is a stout that leaves you craving for more. It begins with the fantastic pour that gives the beer a beautiful way to develop a creamy head. The taste is very drinkable, yet somewhat complex. It’s very creamy with the taste of coffee, caramel and chocolate. Doesn’t stand out in any of them but the beer in his whole does that job. Fantastic.

The creamy tan didn’t form for a fee seconds but then had good held tight. Smooth almost slick mouthfeel and not an overpowering burnt/smoky flavor like some stouts. Tasty

Gotta love this sweet stout. It pours a very thick construction in which you can clearly see layers moving in the glass. It’s creamy aroma of chocolate, milk and coffee is wonderful, a real treat!

This review might have been much better if the beer was carbonated more. Toasty malt is well rounded by the milk sugar. No hops noticed as expected. Standard lower aroma of a stout. Easily quaffable. Needed to be carbonated more. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Dark opaque pour moderate tan head. Aroma of toasted/burnt hay lactic tang, and cereals. Light carb very nice silky mouthfeel. Flavor is mostly char and milky tang. Finish is dry enough for a sweet beer. Recommended for the coffee and burnt marshmallow fans out there.
