COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This English style of beer, also known as Sweet Stout or Cream Stout, first appeared in London in the late 1800’s. The early brewers touted the health benefits of the milk sugar in this beer which today relates mainly to the increased amount of calories(no real health benefits…sorry). The milk sugar adds a well rounded sweetness to this dark beer and makes it an outstanding, year ‘round stout.

UPDATED: MAR 29, 2008 [Sampled March 2008 - tasted blind] A dark deep red beer with a thin brown head. The aroma is sweet malty with strong notes of caramel, roasted malt, and chocolate. The flavor is sweet malty with strong notes of caramel, but also lighter notes of chocolate and vanilla, like an ice cream topping. The hints of alcohol tickles the palate.[7/4/7/4/15=3.7]

[First sample, February 2004] A deep red beer with a fine brown head. The aroma is very fruity with roasted and stouty notes - just as a stout is supposed to be. The flavor is fantastic; sweet malty with notes of roasted malt, coffee, and hints of chocolate. A fantastic beer - one of the best I’ve had. I wish I had this one available. [7/5/10/4/19=4.5]
