This English style of beer, also known as Sweet Stout or Cream Stout, first appeared in London in the late 1800’s. The early brewers touted the health benefits of the milk sugar in this beer which today relates mainly to the increased amount of calories(no real health benefits…sorry). The milk sugar adds a well rounded sweetness to this dark beer and makes it an outstanding, year ‘round stout.

Coffee aroma with some mild chocolate notes. No hop aroma present. Appearance is black with tan head. Flavor has a refined coffee roast flavor with a sweetness from the lactose on the end note. Esters are medium. Mouthfeel is medium with moderate low carbonation. No astringency. Super dry finish. Overall, a great tasting milk stout. The nitro bottle version needs some more carbonation though. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

(Had both, the normal Milk stout and the Nitro-version, which cannot be reviewed separately.) Poured from 355 mL. Black colored beer, with a light brown frothy head, which is rapidly diminishing. Slightly smooth mouthfeel, texture is a little bit thicker than normal, nearly creamy with a medium body and medium carbonation. Compared to that, the Nitro-version shows a more creamy head (very long lasting) and texture (but not as creamy as expected) and soft carbonation. The milk stout has an aroma of roasted malts (more intensely recognizable than in the Nitro-version), dark chocolate, roasted coffee & slight yeast. Moderate sweet initial taste, light bitter aftertaste. Flavors of coffee and roasted malts, some hints of chocolate. The finish is dominated by coffee flavor and is slightly astringent. The intensity of the flavor and aroma is slightly better in the normal milk stout, whereas the palate is better with the nitrogen added. Overall both very pleasant and enjoyable stouts.

Tap. Pours a deep black with a creamy off white head. Aroma is of roasted malts, milk chocolate and coffee. A very creamy beer with pretty much zero carbonation. Taste is milky with chocolate and subtle vanilla notes coming through. A lovely smooth stout.

Poured from the bottle into a pint glass to drink, the beer had a watery black color with a thick creamy average-sized tan head with good retention, cling, and lacing. Its aroma featured chocolate and molasses along with some milk and cream and a mild earthy hops. The taste was mostly sweet and milky with notes of chocolate and caramel, along with some earthy and grainy bitter tastes. A very creamy and watery beer with a thicker mouthfeel and soft feel on the palate with low carbonation.

Dark brown with mahagony hues offering a creamy chocolatey head. Aromas of roasted malts, milk chocolate, milk-coffee, mocha and hints of toasted white bread develop. Very smooth and light faint livelyness wi a medium coffee like body. Sweet and roasted bitterness intertwine and are well balanced. Medium lasting finish with chocolate coffee notes.

Very smooth, but I prefer the Nitro version of this Stout. Can’t go wrong with this Milk Stout.

Robe brune, peu de mousse. Arômes café, chocolat noir, biscuit, fumé. Goût chocolat et crème. Final chocolat. Moyennement longue en bouche. Texture crémeuse. Une bonne Stout.

Poured from a bottle. Rich, dark, with an opaque chocolate mahogany hue. Medium tan head that holds well. Deep roasted malts aroma and flavors with coffee and hints of vanilla. Very sweet profile, actually a bit heavy for my preference. Wish there was a little more dynamic play with hops, just really sweet.
