This English style of beer, also known as Sweet Stout or Cream Stout, first appeared in London in the late 1800’s. The early brewers touted the health benefits of the milk sugar in this beer which today relates mainly to the increased amount of calories(no real health benefits…sorry). The milk sugar adds a well rounded sweetness to this dark beer and makes it an outstanding, year ‘round stout.

Black with a half finger of beige head. Aroma is milk chocolate, very light roasted malt. Taste is super sweet up front with some roasted notes coming through in the finish. Medium body that feels just right. Overall an excellent sweet stout.

Bottle. Black beauty with a creamy beige head. Vanilla chocolate and is so rounded, silky and creamy. Hasn’t try a sweet stout like this before. Just lovely.

12oz bottle from The Beer Store Wilson. Black hue, zero visibility with mostly lasting creamy light brown head. Good lacing. Aromas of coffee, dark malt and cocoa. Dark chocolate malt taste up front with the same tasty finish. Slick mouthfeel. Good milk stout.

Get roasted barley aroma in this dark brown brew with a light brown head. Chocolate milk in a bottle with slight carb. A bit on the light bodied side but very tasty. No bitterness. Just sweet choc. and a smooth finish.

What a nice smooth creamy stout... Can’t beat the nitro creaminess and huge roast flavor. Great beer, too easy to drink.

Poured from bottle. Dark chocolate color with thin tan head. Aromas of coffee chocolate band smoke. Taste is smooth with chocolate catamel and vanilla tones and just slides down. I wish this was barrel aged as it would be awesome.

12oz bottle shared by Chalemeaux. Thanks, TJ! Record month of rates for me! Much more fun than beating the seasonal snowfall record (did that too). Pours nearly black with a light tan head. Aroma is dark coffee, lacto. Flavor is nic and smooth, chocolate, dark coffee. Well done.

Aroma is fruity and sweet but also general stout notes. The taste is awesome, and this is how a sweet stout should taste. Strong caramel, sweet vanilla and chocolate. It’s like a cup of hot cocoa for hard dudes/dudettes, but cool... and tastier.
