This English style of beer, also known as Sweet Stout or Cream Stout, first appeared in London in the late 1800’s. The early brewers touted the health benefits of the milk sugar in this beer which today relates mainly to the increased amount of calories(no real health benefits…sorry). The milk sugar adds a well rounded sweetness to this dark beer and makes it an outstanding, year ‘round stout.

Poured from a nitro bottle. Deep walnut with a 1 finger creamy tan head; some lacing. Aroma is predominately chocolate and roasted malt. The taste is chocolate and malted milk, but not too sweet. Smoothy creamy mouthfeel, but much thinner than expected. Finishes mildly bitter and slightly dry. Overall, enjoyable stout that is sessionable.

13/20 not as creamy as I would have liked, but it's smooth enough and decent taste. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Nitro version. Pitch black with medium brown head. Aroma is dark chocolate, a hint of coffee and lots of roasted malts. Taste is medium coffee bitterness with a little dark chocolate sweetness. Not so full body, though long finish of dark chocolate, maybe nuts or wood as well. Quite watery mouthfeel. Alright.

Nice malty coffee scents. Black with big tan head with medium bubbles and lots of lacing. Tastes of coffee and toast. Not too sweet. Nice stout.

No stout has come close to this! It’s definitely my favourite, along with its brother Nitro. So smooth with soft carbonation that doesn’t ruin the flavours. Beautiful chocolate, coffee, cream notes and a sweet aftertaste.

At Pappa Dells in Illinois. Pours dark black with a short thick head. (Poured perfectly ). Initial taste of dry dark chocolate with a hint of coffee. The milk chocolate flavor comes at the finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy

12oz bottle. Pours a pitch black color with a thin creamy head that maintains. Mild coffee aroma. Coffee and chocolate in the taste, on the sweet side, lactose sugar present. Feel is on the thin side but creamy n slick. Very tasty milk stout.

Coffee notes, not too sweet, had the nitro version, although I’m not sure what the point is.

Had in NYC local hostel. Poured dark, no head. Was OK, not amazing. Maybe better with hearty dinner.

355 ml bottle. Pours dark brown with a beige head. Aroma of roasted malt (dark coffee) and a light sourish note. Medium to full body with a creamy and flowery mouthfeel and a strong to heavy sweetness and low carbonation. Flavor full of roasted malts - brown suggar and dark coffee; maybe some wood and spices. Excellent.
