COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Thanks for purchasing another offering in our Big Mo’ Series. Widdershins, our counterclockwise biennial barleywine aged in oak casks reveals fruity notes of orange and apricot upon a foundation of oak, garlanded with earthy hoppiness. Our answer to waning daylight and frigid temperatures can be enjoyed immediately or saved in your cellar for a snowy day. Cheers!

Bomber bottle poured a clear orange hue w/ a one finger fully diminishing beige head. Moderate to bold fruity aroma. Initial flavor is moderate sweet w/ a moderate bitter finish. Tastes are smokey oak, tangerine, malt, and apricot. Full bodied, soft carbonation, and boozy warm finish.

2013 Vintage, best by November 15, 2018.
Appearance: The body is a vibrant mix from orange to copper with particles in suspension. The head is short and dense, but short lived. It settles into a soft light tan coating with a messy ring.
Aroma: The aroma leans a bit sweet with some malts: caramel, toast, brown sugar and biscuit. There’s a hint of citrus throughout with a splash of oak and a hint of alcohol.
Taste: The flavor is mildly malty with a hint of bitterness and a bit of oak. The malt base gives some sweetness with caramel and toast, backed by oaky tannins and a mild grapefruit bitterness. Nicely balanced, but a bit hoppier than I like the style. The finish is a tad boozy with a warming sensation lingering.
Palate: Full-bodied with mild carbonation.
Overall: I think that this is a solid beer, but nothing about it grips me. I think that the oak is a bit too strong in combination with the bitterness. I think that this would be better for my palate in a few months once the bitterness fades and the beer becomes a bit sweeter.

Bomber from Capone’s. Pours a great chill hazy amver gass color with off-white uniform and clingy head. Nose is oaky, caramel malty, with notes of wheaties. Tastes oaky, caramelly, somewhat peaty and smoky, with a strong bourbony finish and a complex palate. This one would pair well with a sharp cheddar and fine cigar. Damn, that would be a great pairing.

Bottle:   2013 vintage.   Decent barley wine but barrel aging is so minor it doesn’t contribute much.   Slight plastic maltiness, faint oak, sweet, a little sweaty and dank.   Certainly a malty example.   Looks decent, nice amberish color, with a decent head and lacing.   Overall too sweaty and dank, with a very soft Band-Aid presence.   Could use more oak and hoppiness, and less Band-Aid.

22oz bottle from Spirits Crossroads or Brick? Can’t remember. Poured a medium density dusty orange with a smaller tight foamy off white head with medium sized bubbles that fade quick enough.Aroma is nice, wood notes, underlying spiciness, earth, dried out citrus rinds, toffee and corn syrup. Palate is very dry with softer carbonation and a lingering aftertaste with some heat. Flavor of wood, dry molassess and brown sugar, old citrus rinds, earth and dry grassy hops. Solid enough.

Nice. Quite hoppy for a b’wine. Strong, pronounced woody/smokey notes that are a delight. Not boozey at all. Recommended.

Sweet with flavors of brown sugar, muted orange, pine and burnt oak. Not bad, but a bit dull. I feel like this beer needs something to brighten or perk it up.

Pours copper with an off-white head. Aroma of barley, dark fruits and earth. Taste is sweet, bitter and slightly sour.

draft at Coles, Buffalo. copper colored pour. medium to fuller bodied. Oak is too dominate here, dominates all rich toffee & caramel richness expected of the style
