Bottled. An unclear amber beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet malty with lots of hops, medium notes of peaches, and light notes of over ripe fruits, and wood. The flavor is sweet and very fruity - just leaning towards being over ripe, combined with notes of wood, and a light alcohol note. It finishes with a slight alcohol burn in the throat.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 fiulijn (10421) - Como, ITALY - FEB 16, 2008
UPDATED: JUN 19, 2011 2011-06-19, corked bottle, vintage 2007, 9.1% ABV, 4 years old, 8-4-8-4-16=40 Hazy amber color, with a medium sized creamy layer. Aroma of generic wood and oak, vanilla, fudge, some caramel. Good body strength; strong flavor of toffee and fudge, very sweet, with evident vanilla/oak presence; the alcohol is also quite present, while the hop gives enough bitterness, but obviously less quality than it used to. It may be cloying in large quantities. Still good, but getting tired.
2008-02-16, corked bottle, vintage 2007, 9.1% ABV, 8-5-9-5-17=44 Hazy dark amber to chestnut color; creamy head, a thin layer is persistent, and nice, chaotic lace. Nice aroma of malt, caramel, soil, earthy hops, yeast, very light manure. Full bodied, it has a very good caramel flavor (like rhubarb candies), with a strong hopping of a very good quality, resiny; with the sweetness that I look for in a beer. It has of course a long and powerful final, bitter and sweet, like some less herbal Italian digestive liquors (Cynar), where just the alcohol is warming the mouth. I don’t notice the oak. Could as well be an American Strong Ale, since the hop almost prevail on the malt. The aroma is more complex, but the flavor and palate are more fulfilling. Straightforward, but extremely hedonistic, excellent.
