1.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
Bottle - labeled as Left Hand Polestar Pilsner. Hopefully that means the bottle was old because this beer was awful! As odd an aroma as I believe I’ve found. It smells like a sack of Crystal malt before brewing. I get no hops, just the fresh malt. Despite my aggressive pour this had the worst looking head I’ve seen - about like dishsoap after washing a sink full of dishes. A few large bubbles on one side of the glass. Dirty gold body that looked much like a hefeweizen. This tastes nothing like a Pilsner. It tastes like one of my homebrews and I am a terrible brewer at this point. I get no hops - none of the spicy hops typical of a pils. I cannot imagine what happened with this bottle. Undercarbonated. Awful and hopefully just a fluke.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
This one was not special but certainly within the style guide lines. Aroma was adequate and the flavor was good but the aftertase did not sit right for me. I’m not an expert so I will just leave it at that.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draught. Clear golden color with no head. Delicate malt and hop aromas and flavors with honey undertones. No sweetness, though. Very tasty.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Pours with a spare white head and a pale and clear golden body. Aroma is of dust, and cut grass, and some light citrus. Light in body with a soft carbonation. Flavor is moderately bitter and average in length. Well hopped and great in character. This is a good pilsener. There is really nothing to complain about at all with this beer. Very straightforward.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
On tap at the Federal in Durham, NC. Typical yellow color with almost no head and no lacing as I drink. Slightly metallic smell with some hops fighting to come through and basically failing. Honestly tastes sort of like Miller Lite. A very boring pils that I will not be drinking again.

3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 oz bottle, bottled on 11/16/04. Pours a very slightly hazy yellow with a small, fizzy white head that quickly goes down to a thin ring.
The aroma is metallic and skunky - some hops and spices try to peek through.
The flavor is rather bland - a little sweet malt with some spicy hops that are a bit metallic. It has a pretty crisp finish. It’s inoffensive and easy to drink. The mouthfeel is thin to medium with decent carbonation.
Pilsners are not my favorite style. This is an OK pils, but nothing exciting in my book. The more I drank of it, the more I warmed up to it.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pour is a bright gold with a white head. Aroma is slightly malty and hoppy the way a good pils should be. Flavor is a nice mix of malts and hops. Porb one of the best pils I have had except for the original.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours hazy pale golden-straw with a small fizzy white head that doesn’t last long, not much lacing, light grassy and flowery aromas. Bready, grainy and buttery flavors . Light bodied with a soft lightly carbonated mouthfeel, something just not right about this pils, this is a fresh sample brewed on 06/15/05.
