GreatLibations (1440), Last Supper, Arizona, USA Sep 3, 2007 This one pours a dark amber brown color w/ a full, creamy froth. Head retention lasts and lasts. Stubborn as a mule. After some time it finally recedes reveling snail tracks, and a full canopy w/ a rocky surface. Nice! Aroma is fresh w/ bright sweet malts, herbs, and spice. Full nectar w/ creamy residual effers. A big malty backbone sustains live giving forces produced by one, Rye, character. Sloppy malts driven from their homes by the strict dictatorship that has its own philosophy on what a good beer is. Rye kicks in and turns the decadent malts into an enjoyable fruit packed libation. Caramel, cherry, pomagranite, nectarine, grapes, cocoa, and melon are tamed by the hand of Rye. Rye is thorny, herbal, and roasted in essence and balances nicely. The finish is mildly bittered w/ herbs and citrus rind yet leaves a lingering sweetness. Overall: some much fruit the horn of plenty would gag, in a good way. Rye applies his dictatorship in a refined, humanitarian manner and brings out the best in this complex brew. jstraw (750), Chicago, Illinois, USA Sep 1, 2007 Updated: Feb 24, 2008Cloudy amber with big, floatsam head / Nose of malt, dried cherries, and spice / Medium, dry, creamy hop body with good finish / Lush, earthy flavors of rye, mushrooms, molasses, and malt, and a spicy rye finish / Very good but questionably expensive. kp (8400), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Sep 1, 2007 Date: 02/21/2007

cloudy dark amber, wispy beige head, bits of lace, sweet dark caramel malt aroma, rich malt flavor, nice earthy hops, light lasting bitterness, touch of smokey character, mostly dry with just a hint of sweetness, as it warms the caramel gets richer and maintains just a bit of sweetness,

ElGaucho56 (386), USA Aug 25, 2007 Draft @ BSP. Pours a clear garnet with slight foamy dissipating head. Nose predominantly of spicy malt, some plastic type scent. On the palate initial sweetness giving way to same plastic, then somewhat intense bitterness. The rye in this recipe creates an unbalanced flavor profile, that while clean, builds to an unharmonious sweetness. PorterPounder (3132), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Aug 19, 2007 Savannah, Ga. - Habersham Beverages, 750 ml corked bottle. Murky, dark copper pour with a fluffy off-white head that sticks around. Brief minty aroma, hint of fresh lake water. Fruity flavor, some citrus. nectarines, hint of sweet spiciness. Spearmint in the finish. Thickish, creamy mouthfeel. One of the better bocks out there - has more of an ale-like quality to it. Pleasantly surprised. jgentgesdo (564), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA Aug 16, 2007 Pours opaque brown with medium brown head that lasts well. Nose is caramel, malt, grainy. Sweet and malty, whisky notes. Mildly bitter finish. Yum. ABUSEDGOAT (1934), California, USA Aug 5, 2007 Murky amber, huge head with gushing, only decent retention and lacing after that fiasco though. Aroma is toast, bread, caramel, hint of rye. Hard to find unless you know it’s there. Medium bodied, sweet syrupy finish. I really hated the gushing and the pricetag for an otherwise decent beer. SSSteve (2045), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Jul 29, 2007 pours a very dark brown with slow moving lacing. opaque. a large, creamy, long lasting light tan head on top. aroma is full of toasted grain, nuts, and cereal with some cardboard and a darker note of caramel. a moderately dry finish that is sweet but nowhere near cloying. flavors of light caramel, hops and rounded out with a toasty grain. moderately bitter. aroma was my favorite characteristic. a little too hoppy.
