Commercial Description:
Thanks for purchasing another offering in our Big Mo' Series. Our Rye Bock is a pleasant departure from traditional bocks and rye beers. The use of malted rye in beer finds its origins in Bavaria. We here at Left Hand use a bottom fermenting lager yeast, paired with a hop profile of classic German bocks. Our Rye Bock gets a wonderful tangy spiciness from the rye, accompanied by dried cherry aromas in the nose. It is a beer of great flavor with a long, savory finish. The image of a goat has traditionally been the symbol of bock beers. It was customary to feed goats rye to make them potent in the spring. We love the marriage of these two ideas. Will our Rye Bock exacerbate your spring fever? Maybe not, but trying out old folklores never tasted so good.

Red-brown with thick tan head and slight haze. Nose is dark fruit, medium hops, earthy, mild, woody aroma. Soft, nice level of carbonation. Lively but not fizzy or prickly. Good malt character, nice balance of rye malt. Slightly sweet but not sugary. More like a rootsy, woody, earthy sweetness. Mellow, characterful hop finish, highly drinkable.

750ml bottle. Gusher! Earthy, spicy aroma with some chocolate and whiff of sassafras and alcohol. Poured a clear reddish-orange color, The head was light tan with good retention. A bit of lace was left behind. Dry and effervescent. Lots of air building up in my stomach. Tasted of dark fruits, burnt caramel, black tea, alcohol, and rye. Not bad, but a bit too bubbly.

Draft @ Buckeye Beer Engine: Pleasantly surprised by this one. Pours a dark mahogany brown with a thick frothy head. Aroma is sweet, dried fruit, maybe a hint of dark sugars. Flavor is sweet, burnt rye malts, brown sugar. Good mouthfeel, hides alcohol dangerously well.
