Quality Rye, Rye Vodka, Thurn und Taxis rye beer, Rye bread. Ok, you got my point (I hope). Tabernash Rye Bock got superb bready aroma , chewy , old vintage bakery production . Cloudy, thick beer, creamy head, chocolate brown. Sadly carbonation was a bit high, that only made the brew half as smooth as it could be. Still great beer. Respect the style and attempt. beerguy101 (3972), Newark, California, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 5, 2004 Dark brown color. Medium head. Aroma is malty and fruity. A medium bodied bock. Malts are fruity and sweet. Nice rye spiciness. Hops are spicy and floral. There is a touch of sourness as well. Nicely balanced. Interesting beer. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet. jerc (3966), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 7, 2004 Hazy dark brown with a billowy large beige head. Aroma is sweetly malty and yeasty, foreshadowing the sweet malt flavours in the full bodied beer. Something a bit different in the maltiness that I attributed to the rye but I could be wrong. Carbonation mutes some of the more complex flavours. All hail the Captain of the Cougars. Rciesla (3915), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 24, 2009 Bottle. Pours an amber body with an off white head. Spicy rye bread notes, some caramel notes, and a light fruit body. A modest warming with more spicy yeast tones and rye. Nice ale. thedm (3837), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Aug 1, 2004 This bottled brew tasted at DrewLaPalooza 2004 poured a very large sized head of finely sized off-white colored long lasting bubbles. The body was semi-opaque dark brown in color with no visible carbonation. It had a malty barnyard aroma and was semi-vinous. The mouth feel was tingly with a bock like aftertaste. The flavor contained notes of malt and rye. Theis (3803), Denmark

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Apr 15, 2008 Caged/corked. Pours with a ruggedly reddish brown color and just a fizzle of head. The aroma is mildly medicinal, but quite restrained. Interesting drink here ... a broad blend of stuff going on here, from a easy going roast, a teaser of dark fruit, and a kiss of chocolate in the finish. Very tasty brew and exceptionally well assembled at 7.7%! (#3422, 4/15/2008)
