Caged/corked. Pours with a ruggedly reddish brown color and just a fizzle of head. The aroma is mildly medicinal, but quite restrained. Interesting drink here ... a broad blend of stuff going on here, from a easy going roast, a teaser of dark fruit, and a kiss of chocolate in the finish. Very tasty brew and exceptionally well assembled at 7.7%! (#3422, 4/15/2008)

Aug 7, 2008 750 mL bottle purchased at Coaltrain Wine and Liquor. Pours dark brown with an average, fizzy, light brown head, somewhat lasting with fair lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (caramel, cookie), light hops (grass), average yeast (dough, sweat) with notes of apple, pear, and toffee. Medium bodied, thin texture, average carbonation, and a chalky finish. Average duration, light sweetness, moderate acidity and bitterness.

Aug 5, 2008 Not too bad for a rye bock. You can definitely taste and smell the rye! Appears dark amber, slightly cloudy with a nice light brown head.

Aug 5, 2008 The aroma is malty with what I think is rye and earthy nots and incense. The appearance is brown with a large head. The flavor is like the aroma. The palate is thin. Interesting but thats all.

Aug 4, 2008 On tap @ Buckeye: Pours a clear copper with a light tan head. Aroma, rye, doughy malts, some smoky notes, caramel. Flavor, rye, some spices, caramel, earthy notes, some doughy malts.
