COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sawtooth Ale is an English style Extra Special Bitter. It is an extremely well balanced beer, with significant hop character, medium body, and a maltiness which increases in evidence as the beer warms to its "proper" drinking temperature. . The water used is quite hard, bringing it to near Burton on Trent levels, keeping it true to the style. This gives it the appropriate character and improves the malt extract significantly.

Pours a clear copper amber. Small sticky beige head. Fruit, malt nose. Faint caramel, fruit up front. Sweet, light to medium bodied, fnishing with faintly citric, metallic hops. Not bad, tastes kinda like a rusty sawtooth.

Out of the bottle. A few months old. Almost no head, yet a little lacing. Surprisingly cloudy for a bitter. Smells like candy apples and dirt. Flavor is light and smooth. Some hops and a tartness like Granny Smith apples. Interesting entry for a bitter. I would buy this again.

Bottled on 10 21 03 drank on 03 13 04. Clear orange copper color with an almost non-existant white head. Rich malty aroma with hints of caramel and bread. Medium bodied, starts and ends lightly sweet and then gets dry.

I don't think I'm feeling this ale tonight. It's sharp in front and has a smooth and bready finsh which qualifies it as a nice bitter.

Bottle pours brownish amber with virtually no head but with minor lacing.   Many trails of carbonation eminating from the bottom.   Light malty aroma, as well as a faint cidery nose.   Initial taste is not as malty as the aroma suggests, rather watery in fact.   Mouthfeel thin, finishes with an ever so slight hop & malt flavor.   Easily drinkable, but a bit weak on the flavors.   Thanks goes out to acrodizer for the trade!

Nice red amber hue. Faint hoppy aroma. Initial taste is of sweet bitter hops. Malt to me is'nt too evident but the balance is well intentioned. A smooth bitter ale.

Copper orange and a really thin head. Light aroma. Decent caramel and lightly hopped flavor. Smooth but disappointingly flat (both actually and figuratively).

Nice amber color and an aroma of malt and hops. Almost an APA, but not quite. Well balanced, drinkable beer.

Well made and better than the average American ale. Not too hoppy, or malty, it fits the style of a bitter rather well.
