Commercial Description:
Sawtooth Ale is an English style Extra Special Bitter. It is an extremely well balanced beer, with significant hop character, medium body, and a maltiness which increases in evidence as the beer warms to its "proper" drinking temperature. . The water used is quite hard, bringing it to near Burton on Trent levels, keeping it true to the style. This gives it the appropriate character and improves the malt extract significantly.

Orangey hoppy nose. Slightly hazy orange color, medium head. light caramel, decent bitterness. Big carbonation, thinner body, abrupt finish. Easy session beer, not that remarkable though.

Draft at Isaac’s: Poured an amber color with not much head. The aroma was sweet hops. The flavor was sweet and slighly bitter. Not as bitter as some I’ve had. Overall, when comparing ESB’s, this one falls to the middle of the pack.

Copper amber pour into small frothy head that fades into soflty carbonated bubbles rising into light pool at the top of the glass. Aroma of sweet malts and slight citrusy hoppiness. Initial flavor of caramel malt and sweet citrus. Slight hoppy short lasting finish.

Bottle. Malty aroma. Amber body, small head. Flavor a satisfying blend of semi-sweet malt, caramel, and a hint of citrus. Touch of bitterness in the finish.

nose that is biscuity and slightly hoppy. Copper appearance with a thin, wispy head. Flavor of bread and hop citrus with a dry, well carbonated palate. ESB? Me thinks not. More of an American Amber Ale.

Amber/Brown pour with a smallish head that quickly fades, very limited lacing... Slightly sweet, subtle earthy hops...I agree that the malts are a bit too sweet, but by and by a good example...

Brownish orange pour with a nice lasting head and some good lacing. The aroma is pretty sweet and malty, some caramel, toast, chocolate perhaps. Hops are somewhat earthy and sweet - I guess that would be grassy. THe flavor is sweet and malty with a grassy pepper hop finish. I thought the malt profile was too sweet, the finish was decent and bitter though. Eh whatever.

Dark caramel orange brown with a finger of creamy off white head that sits nicely for a while. Big caramel malt, sweet and sticky on the nose. Taste is more an amber than ESB with mostly caramel malt and a light herbal bitterness.
