Pours a clear amber color with a large white head and lots of lacing. The aroma is mostly rich caramel malts and some citrus hops. The taste is very nice; sweet and rich caramel malts, some pine and citrus hops in the finish. A clean and easygoing brew. Pretty nice.

Flavor is unpleasantly bitter with some grainy malts too. Not so great. astrofrk (218), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Oct 26, 2008 Slightly hazy amber brown with fair khaki head. Aroma of light floral hops and a slight sweet nuttiness. Flavor reminds me of a pale ale. I actually found that it was maltier when first poured, and gained hoppiness as it warmed. Not that bad after it breathes a bit. StanMemTn (34), Memphis, Tennessee, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 19, 2008 Why the low rating? I love this stuff. Very good ESB. Nose is sweet rich. Flavors of roasted malt, caramel, light hops. I love this brew one of my favs. MagooinPA (99), Warminster, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 18, 2008 Nice 12oz pour to a big rocky and fluffy white head. Fullers is my benchmark and this is way lighter in color. This looks more like an IPA than a ESB but the nose is all classic ESB. Mucho malt on the 1st sip and that classic Brit ESB finish that is malt then a whack over the head that tells you there is a nice quantity of hops but still balanced. this has a classic ESB taste for sure but seems a bit refined for the style. Then again, you don’t get any better than Fullers ESB. Still considered worthy of the price charged here in Pa for a case. $36!!!!
