Commercial Description:
Sawtooth Ale is an English style Extra Special Bitter. It is an extremely well balanced beer, with significant hop character, medium body, and a maltiness which increases in evidence as the beer warms to its "proper" drinking temperature. . The water used is quite hard, bringing it to near Burton on Trent levels, keeping it true to the style. This gives it the appropriate character and improves the malt extract significantly.

BOTM, Darkish amber pour with lots of carbonation. Moderate white head that dissipates over a minute or so. Not a lot of smell, but what I can get is hops. Taste is very clean, no aftertaste. Well balanced beer.

Pours a nice amber with small offwhite head. Aroma is mainly hops. Taste is a good balance between hops and caramel malt. Not a bad beer.

From bottle : Pours a cloudy carbonated semi-dark amber color with a quarter finger of white foamy head. Nose is pretty hoppy, with a underlying smell of malt extract. Taste is malty, with little amounts of caramel working its way through to my palate. Finish is very clean, with no real aftertaste that im getting. Medium body, with a palate that dies to very bland after it first enters the mouth.

Bottle, 4.8%. Nice hoppy aroma, fresh hops with caramel notes. Hazy caramel/brown colour. Small tan head. The flavour is almost as good as the aroma, nice bitterness and along the same lines as the aroma. Thin mouthfeel and unfortunately a watery aftertaste. OK as a summer beer, I guess.

12 oz. bottle - Poured burnt amber color with small head but did have nice lacing on glass. Aroma is sweet malt and fresh hops. Initial taste is good then the finish is weak and not bitter or sour, just nothing. This is not a bad brew but I was looking for more flavor from a ESB.

I wish this brew was more obviously an ESB. It’s not a bad looking pour, with a clear amber body and decent carbo. But it’s very light on the hop character, regardless of what’s advertised. Decent quaffer but very indistinct.

Dark copper in color, with an extremely thick, white head. Fresh aroma......a slight hop scent. Malty up front, with a smooth hop taste soon after. A slightly crisp, yet clean mouthfeel. Very long, lingering hop finish.

Nice amber with a big lumpy head. Bready aroma. Flavor starts malty sweet and changes to hop bitter as it warms. Nice citrus tang, clean crisp finish. Good stuff.
