Commercial Description:
Sawtooth Ale is an English style Extra Special Bitter. It is an extremely well balanced beer, with significant hop character, medium body, and a maltiness which increases in evidence as the beer warms to its "proper" drinking temperature. . The water used is quite hard, bringing it to near Burton on Trent levels, keeping it true to the style. This gives it the appropriate character and improves the malt extract significantly.

Bottle from my beer club. Pours a deep amber/orange color with a nice head. Aroma is heavily malty with a bit of a chocolate characteristic. Flavor is malt and citrus hops, with a nice smoothness and barely-noticeable alcohol. Pleasant, very pleasant.

Pours a nice pumpkin orange color, with a well formed head. Aroma is very malty. Flavor is somewhat thin on the malts, slight hint of citrus. Finishes with a sharp alcohol bitterness, which kind of throws the balance off a bit. Still a very good beer.

Pour is a orange with a large white head. Aroma is earthy malts along with some hops and citrus. Flavor is sweet caramel malts with a nice hop and pine on the tounge. Finish is of course bitter. Pretty tasty and one worth looking for.

I found this beer a little too bitter without the payoff of flavor. It has a nice color but the hops and yeast aroma didn’t appeal to my buds. I prefer LH’s Deep Cover Brown Ale to this beer. Another beer of the month selection.

Draft. Pours deep amber/prange with a white head that quickly dissapates. Flavor is nice hoppy with an orange citrus background. A nice ESB.

Pours a nice orange-amber with bubbly head and some relatively thick lacing. Nose is somewhat citrusy, with a british style hop earthiness, some sweet toffee and baked pastry. Graham cracker biscuit starts the palate off, decent body for a bitter, more citrus hops than the style usually exhibits, nice crisp finish with lingering bitterness and slight dryness. Reminded me of fat tire, with more presence.

Poured a great orange color with a small head. Smells of Citrus, particularly Orange with a hint of spice. Maybe I tried this beer too late in the night because it was a bit too bitter for me at the time. Taste was of hops, orange, and a little too watery. Not my favorite ale, but not bad. I should try this again before I have three or 4 beers in me.

Pours a nice clear copper collor with a fine, quickly disappearing white head. Aroma is light with notes of citrus and malt. Decent mouthfeel leads to a fairly smooth and balanced taste. I note some nutty characteristics along with the malt and hops. A slightly sour finish. Not a bad beer.
