Commercial Description:
Sawtooth Ale is an English style Extra Special Bitter. It is an extremely well balanced beer, with significant hop character, medium body, and a maltiness which increases in evidence as the beer warms to its "proper" drinking temperature. . The water used is quite hard, bringing it to near Burton on Trent levels, keeping it true to the style. This gives it the appropriate character and improves the malt extract significantly.

Bottle.Pours a clear amber body with a three finger creamy/fizzy head that fades to a thin layer of foam. Aroma of floralhops and caramellmalt. Flavors is of mostly citrus hops and little weaker tones of floraly hoppines. A great tone of caramel is there to. Some metallic in it. Palate is thin and chewy and pretty sweet.

Bottle (355 ml) bought at Systembolaget. Deep clear amber, medium fluffy off-white head. Caramelly and slightly earthy malt aroma, with floral and citric hops. Light to medium bodied with soft carbonation. Lingering bitterness. A good try at an English style ale, but rather a Special Bitter than an ESB.

Balanced beer. Good flavor, but not enough of it. Not enough hops for a good bitter or ale. Light bodied and very drinkable.

From a bottle at Old Chicago. Pours amber with a decent white head. Some caramel and toasted malt. Nice bitterness but mild for an ESB.

Tap. A good light ale with an amber colored body and a light white head. I wouldn’t say it was bitter at all really, more of an amber light ale.

Bottle, courtesy my wife’s cousins in CO. Deep amber with offwhite head. Nose of fresh toasty malt, really quite nice and inviting. Flavor is fresh toasty-sweet malt with a nice underlying bitterness throughout. Full and creamy on the palate, this was quite enjoyable-- went well with a drunken evening of pool and darts.

Bottle. This is a decent ale...too off balance for my likings though. Needed more hops for my taste buds. It had a very strong caramel malt flavor which would have been great, had there been more hops. I’d drink again, but not a favorite.

pours a dark copper orange with a one finger bubbly off white head. aroma is caramel malt and hops with orange, melon, and veggie characteristics. has a light to medium body with descent lacing and carbonation. flavor is the same as aroma, but with mostly veggie and the others faintly following. could not get into the veggie flavor in this beer but to each his own i guess. it smells and tastes like kind of a weird roasted caramel malt giving it that aroma and flavor. it is a little sticky as well.
