nearbeer (1833), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Jun 19, 2007 Updated: Feb 9, 2009Bottled 02-28-07. Clear, orange-amber with a large head that lasts well. Aroma is rich marshmallow malt, with some faint citrus-herby hops. Taste is a well-balanced battle of grapefruit-grassy hops vs. rich and slightly nutty malt. Palate is medium-bodied, creamy, and a little dry and tingly. A better bitter. sheatripper (863), Brooklyn, New York, USA Jun 17, 2007 Bottle. Poured a clear copper with a frothy off-white head, leaving some columns of lacing. Caramel to toffee malt aroma with some orangey biscuit notes. Nice malty flavors with a minerally character and some fruity esters. Nice and balanced as advertised. Medium to full bodied but very drinkable, with fine carbonation. I found this a nice example of a full flavored session ale. Given the other ratings I think I got the lucky bottle. b33r (363), Cleveland, Ohio, USA Jun 3, 2007 Draught at 69 Taps. Medium brown color with small tan head. Aroma was sweet and flavor had light malt and caramel. Some hops were evident. Mart (211), Montréal, Quebec, Canada Jun 3, 2007 Mondial de la bière 07. Ambrée-orangée, légèrement voilée, mousse mince. Arôme agrumé et caramel. Goût équilibré, malt caramel, amertume d’agrumes. Corps moyen à mince, effervescence faible. Correct. SledgeJr (2957), Omaha, Nebraska, USA Jun 2, 2007 On tap at Max & Joe’s Left Hand tasting party. Pours a soft medium amber with a medium-sized off white head. Caramel aroma. Has a thin body with a metallic bite. Mild bitterness with an interesting malty toasted taste. Mild in the brittish style. Quick finish. AxlLives (11), Maryland, USA May 26, 2007 Draft at the Library in Norman, OK... Pours a big white fluffy head, mostly lasting... Notes of caramel with a hop-back on the finish of the palate... Nice, solid body... Good session beer... 505 (271), Echo Park, California, USA May 25, 2007 Aroma is slightly sweet and floral, very English. Yeah, looks great, copper colored with a nice little puffy white head that laces nicely. Flavor is nicely balanced. Malty with a distinct bitter finish. Medium bodied. I mean, as far as ESB’s go, pretty good, but not the type of beer I’ll ever crave.
