CigarsLoveBeer (153), Illinois, USA Mar 14, 2007 Bottle: Aroma has strong ham, pine, cinnamon, smoke, and breakfast pastry notes, which I found very pleasing. Started out with muted biscuit malts, which were followed by a building sourdough aspect that combined quite nicely towards the finish with the hops. The finish is really nice, however. The hops start out mild, but then build to a very dry, clean, long bitter finish, with some mild fruitiness. As the beer warms, I tasted more sweet malts and some nuttiness, all balanced out quite well by the finish. Very nice. JohnnyZ (80), USA Mar 10, 2007 Great beer. Refreshing. nice bitter balance. Better taste than aroma. Aroma is not very evident. Smooth, well carbonated. ogglethorp (882), Ohio, USA Mar 6, 2007 Bottle. Pours a copper color with a decent sized beige colored head. Aroma is caramel malts, floral hops, light citrus. Flavor is the same. Palate is medium bodied, medium carbonation, bitter finish, crisp and refreshing. Good session. maniac (2628), Richmond, Virginia, USA Mar 1, 2007 Clear light amber body with a small frothy white head. Sweet caramel aroma. Sweet malty flavor with some caramel and a bit of light citrus and floral bitter. Foxbush (452), Richmond, Virginia, USA Feb 27, 2007 Updated: Sep 7, 2009This was steal the glass night at Capital Ale House. The ESB was good. It had a nice head and an inviting deep golden color. The bitterness was mild and could have been stronger. It is a balanced beer that is drinkable at anytime of day. This was purchased by bottle on 9/4 form Total Wine. It is better ale than last time. jonwayne4883 (401), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA Feb 27, 2007 bottle, easy to drink but no real memorable taste to speak of. passed it on to the roommate after a few sips. BustedFlat (552), Edina, Minnesota, USA Feb 25, 2007 Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a pint glass, burnt orange with a medium off-white head. The aroma is of hops, citrus and perhaps a touch of orange peel. The taste is dominated by hops with a touch of bitterness. Drinkable, but not memorable. willblake (2160), Belcamp, Maryland, USA Feb 24, 2007 24-Feb-07 12oz bottle from sampler 12-pk. Bronze-amber color, clear, with beige head of tight foam that lasts and laces in sheets. Aroma is plain, a bit mineral, and toasted malts (pretzel). No significant hop character in aroma of flavor until a quick dry finish. Stuff is pretty dry front to back, actually. Nothing to write home about.
