Commercial Description:
Sawtooth Ale is an English style Extra Special Bitter. It is an extremely well balanced beer, with significant hop character, medium body, and a maltiness which increases in evidence as the beer warms to its "proper" drinking temperature. . The water used is quite hard, bringing it to near Burton on Trent levels, keeping it true to the style. This gives it the appropriate character and improves the malt extract significantly.

Clear amber/copper color, with a nice off-white head. The head reduces most of the way, but it does leave a thin lace. Mostly malt in the aroma, but there is a hops presence, as well. Toasted caramel malt flavor, with just enough hops to balance everything out. Subtle aftertaste. Good carbonation. Very smooth, and quite drinkable.

Bottle. Aroma not all that impressive toasted malts and some hops. Poured a copperish hue with white head. Flavor is about standard for a bitter which I happen to like. Palate was just a tad above watery but smooth easy drinking. Overall this was okay by me.

As advertised; very well balanced ale with a nice blend of simple malt flavors that really complement each other as well as the hops which are equally impressive. Maltly caramel flavors with many light fruit notes. Medium bodied smooth drink. Small, long lasting head. Enjoyable in every way.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a bright bronze color with a medium sized yellow-tan head. The aroma is sweet, nutty and has a moderate floral and fruity hop presence. The flavor is crisp fruity hops followed by a tangy and nutty malt base with a bitter hoppy finish. Pleasant.

Bottled. Amber color with small head. Sweet and malty aroma with notes of toffee and orange. Sweetish flavor with malt, minerals, toffee, orange and melon. Mild bitterness. Basic lightly hopped ale.

Bottled. Fresher than the last Left Hand i had for sure. Good lacing and a nice looking beer - copper orange. Great aroma of malt, peat, caramel and yank hops. Malt and hops fairly well balanced throughout but perhaps a touch to astringent to finish. A touch of grapefruit but overall not enough fruit for me. Not bad for the style.
