Commercial Description:
Sawtooth Ale is an English style Extra Special Bitter. It is an extremely well balanced beer, with significant hop character, medium body, and a maltiness which increases in evidence as the beer warms to its "proper" drinking temperature. . The water used is quite hard, bringing it to near Burton on Trent levels, keeping it true to the style. This gives it the appropriate character and improves the malt extract significantly.

It was interesting to learn the style of the beer after drinking it. it tasted like a hoppy red or brown. like hopback amber, it reminded me of. good hops, earthy, bitter, well balanced malt. very drinkable. nice.

Amber with particles, small white head. Aroma of citrus and apricot, with some (fresh, not fermented) honey. Dry and malty flavour with a somewhat hoppy finish.

Cask at Trappeze. Poured clear copper, with a good amount of white foam. Aroma of caramel, light earthy hop, light sweet malt. Taste is lightly malty, with some sweetness, nice hop bitterness, and some earthy hop notes as well. Body was pretty moderate, with some nice cask carbonation. Overall, a decent bitter that’s not too over the top and very nice on tap.

Bottle sampled at the Left Hand tasting at Blacklick Wine & Spirits on 7/9/09. Pours clear copper with a medium off-white head. Very crisp aroma with a good hop and malt balance. Crisp hop flavor up front with some English malt character on the finish. Good ESB.

OK, there are better ESB’s. Pours a copper color, hops come right through. Citrusy hop flavor.

Clear copper pour with a medium off-white head. Good looking lace and average retention. Grainy/caramel malt sweetness and low hop aroma, a little diacetyl. Flavor has medium bitterness, moderate earthy hops, sweet malt at the beginning that leads to the hops and finishes dry. Medium body with medium-low carbonation. Good balance. Not much complexity. Decent beer.

Had this one a while back, Bottle to glass. I just wrote down my ratings. Small head, spare lacing. Amber Color. Flavor of mollasses, and light hops.

Bottle. Aroma sweet from malts. Poured amber with off white head. Initial notes of toasted almond. Nice on the tongue. Goes down easy.
