Commercial Description:
Sawtooth Ale is an English style Extra Special Bitter. It is an extremely well balanced beer, with significant hop character, medium body, and a maltiness which increases in evidence as the beer warms to its "proper" drinking temperature. . The water used is quite hard, bringing it to near Burton on Trent levels, keeping it true to the style. This gives it the appropriate character and improves the malt extract significantly.

(Tap) Pours amber. Hoppy aroma and taste with mostly hops in the taste. Nice mouthfeel and a nice dry finish. A very enjoyable beer.

Not really impressed with this beer. I get a wierd tea flavor out of it. And the rest is just bland. Not a whole lot going on from a brewery that I have had much better from.

bottle - Pours light amber with a good malty aroma and a trace of citrus. There’s some good hops flavor and mild malt, but overall just not enough flavor in general. This ale was surprisingly watery. It’s okay, but left me wanting something stronger.

Pours golden honey w/ medium spritzy froth. Aroma is hoppy with aged malt. Medium nectar with ample residual effers. Well let me tell you, this brew is bittered w/ strong flavors from the aged wood, tobacco, rusted iron part of the spectrum. HARD WATER! I think I aquired a kidney stone from just one bottle. I didn’t enjoy this at all. I have found the TRUE English style is more to my liking. This is a poor example of an English style. It’s rustic yes but not in the least bit soft and lucious like grandmas old pillow. It is bitter however, from start to finish.

Awesome. This beer is quite tasty. Nice molasses nose. Huge notes of bread, oats, walnuts, honey, bread and dough. Slight hoppiness. Beautiful apperance, creamy head good lacing, great color of reddish brown. This is one of the best beers of this type I have tasted.

Bottle. Watery all around. Not overly - good in any manner. Looked pretty ok - smelled pretty ok. But the lack of body and flavor was astonishing.

Wholly uninspiring beer. Nicely balanced though not overly complex. More like a lager than anything else. Completely non-offensive though also unmemorable.

When I bought this beer I got it just because I had never tried it had no idea what they style was when I opened it without reading any reviews. The aroma was much like a lager but much more complex. I got some fruitiness and malts. A nice copper pour with a light off white head. A flavor of sweet malt with a nice bitter finish. Just a little over carbonated for me but a good beer.
