Sawtooth Ale is an English style Extra Special Bitter. It is an extremely well balanced beer, with significant hop character, medium body, and a maltiness which increases in evidence as the beer warms to its "proper" drinking temperature. . The water used is quite hard, bringing it to near Burton on Trent levels, keeping it true to the style. This gives it the appropriate character and improves the malt extract significantly.

Amber red colour, with a medium white head. Caramel butterscotch taste. Little carbonation. And a small bitter.

Pours a nice clear copper from a bottle, quickly dissipating slightly off-white head. Aroma of caramel and whole wheat cracker. Flavor is surprisingly hoppy given the aroma. A little watery. Okay beer.

On nitro. Clear and amber with a rich creamy head. Low aroma. Tasty malt flavors. Nutty and caramel. Easy drinking and clean ferment

Not a bad Bitter, had it on tape served a bit too cold, too much head and very little aroma. Iím sure it would be much improved if it had been aged in wood cask and drawn with a hand pump instead of gassed, but sadly this is America but I can dream of a nice pint of Hook Norton while drinking this.

From the tap at Constant Spring. Amber with very thin white head. Not much to the nose. Sweet malt, carmel and a little tangy. Tasted better as it warmed up. Nice and smooth, didn't linger on the palate. Good beer, so I had another. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours an amber color with a thin quickly disappearing head......aroma is nearly non existent, maybe some sweet maltiness......taste is thin, ver slight bitterness, touch of minerals in the back end, maybe chalk? Maybe it tastes better at 10,000 feet than it does at sea level, but Iím at sea level.

Pours dark amber with little foam. The aroma is a very, very, very mild. I honestly canít come up with anything to say about the aroma. The flavor is mild, too. Like a very heavily diluted English bitter. Creamy mouthfeel. Meh.

Nitro version bottle pour into nonic pint glass from One Stop Market. Aroma is bread and strong musty smell--like a dusty old couch. Appearance is clear copper with slowly floating tiny bubbles (like dust in bright sunlight), thin white foamy head with poor retention (maybe I didnít pour hard enough or perhaps because after opening it I got distracted for a couple minutes before pouring?) and no lacing. Taste is malty bread with bitter finish. Palate is medium bodied with thick, creamy texture, soft carbonation and dry, mildly bitter finish. Overall, didnít really do it for me. Not much here and what was here is pretty forgettable.

Sawtooth Ale has a medium, frothy, off-white head, a clear, bubbly, amber appearance, and spider-web lacing left behind. The aroma is of very subtle lemon, bread crust, and generalized malt, and the flavor is of those elements, with a mellow back-end bitterness. Mouthfeel is light to medium, and Sawtooth Ale finishes dry and exceedingly drinkable. RJT

Tried the Nitro version. Pours a golden brown with a foamy white head that lingers in the glass. Smells vaguely of hops and malt. Taste is similar. Hints of malt and hops briefly visit but are fleeting and quickly fade away, replaced with bland mildness. Drinks very smoothly with very light carbonation. Nitrogen certainly didnít help this beer.
