Sawtooth Ale is an English style Extra Special Bitter. It is an extremely well balanced beer, with significant hop character, medium body, and a maltiness which increases in evidence as the beer warms to its "proper" drinking temperature. . The water used is quite hard, bringing it to near Burton on Trent levels, keeping it true to the style. This gives it the appropriate character and improves the malt extract significantly.

355ml bottle from Bierkompass.de. Poured dark amber with a white, thin head. Aroma has nuts, bread and malt. Flavor has bread, fruity hoppyness, caramel. Bitter finish. Light bodied. Basic, nothing more. Easy to drink though.

Sawtooth Nitro. Pours amber red with a thick white head. Head retention is great. AROMA: malty, caramel, slight bitter note, crisp and herbal hops. TASTE: malty, caramel, hop bitterness, light spice, light peppercorn, slight molasses, creamy and slightly metallic. AFTER TASTE: peppercorn, spice, hop/malt bitterness and slight molasses with an oily light watery feel. Was looking forward to this brew for quite some time but ended up being a bit of a letdown. Maybe the Milk Stout Nitro will help retain my enthusiasm for the Nitro series from Left hand.

Neutral malt aromas on an amber pour with a nice sweetness and smooth mouth feel with a carbonated after bite. Malty goodness!

Left Hand definitely has some better brews than this, but this still isn’t bad at all. Worth a try at the very least.

Bottle pour. Clear amber with a small off white head. Aroma is caramel, biscuit, and toast. Medium to full somewhat creamy body. Very light sweet and light bitter taste.

I’m drinking the nitro version. Moderately hoppy aroma with a sweet background. Looks beautiful. Dark amber color with a tiny ring of white foam. Taste is malty with not much of a hop profile except for in the aftertaste. A bit bland with a strange metallic flavor. Good smooth palate. I would really like this beer except for the taste, which is by far the most important part.

This was poured into an English pint glass. The appearance was a copper color with a slight transparency to it. A slim half finger white foamy head starts and dissipates into a bubbly lacing coating the top of the beer. The smell takes a light biscuit to toffee to delicate caramel breadiness weaving in some light earthy hops coming across slightly grassy. The taste is malty between the caramel, biscuit, toffee and breadiness. Acceptable level of buttery "diacetyl" is there to smooth the aftertaste into the finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a good sessionable feel to it. The carbonation is low in this one which is good for the style and for me. Overall, as an ESB it works. And I’d say this one works for as well, would love to have with some fish and chips.

FInal seco y amargo. Muy buena.

Nitro bottle. Malty hop aroma with a slight bitter hop finish. It is smooth from the nitro. Hops are on the floral side. Malt or hops are not overdone on this one. Is balanced and has good flavors. Not bad. Easy drinking but flavorful beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
